Job Title: Site Director

FLSA Status: Full time, non-exempt

Reports to: Youth Program Coordinator

Date: July 2020

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Site Director is responsible for the overall direction and management of the assigned Youth Program(s) within the goals and objectives of the San Luis Obispo County YMCA. This may include the responsibility for site budget development and management; program development; hiring; development, supervision and evaluation of all site staff; the safety and development of each child; and the overall administration of all site-based programs. In addition, this position requires overseeing the compliance of program requirements set forth by each school, school district, and/or designate. This is a school-year position with responsibilities throughout the school year, and possibly in other YMCA programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • May be responsible for annual budget development process, budget monitoring, forecasts, and achieving successful net income.
  • May be responsible for overall program development, growth, evaluation, and expansion.
  • May be responsible for coordinating and meeting with assigned school and/or school district personnel to reflect site's compliance of program requirements.
  • Responsible for the overall supervision of all site staff (Includes maintaining standards of performance for each staff documenting and address staff problems, and annual evaluation of each staff person.
  • Responsible for assessing and addressing local community, school and parent needs.
  • Responsible for creative, challenging, high-quality program delivery.
  • Responsible for participant registration, monthly billing, petty cash expenses, food program administration, collection of payments and maintaining all necessary supporting documentation.
  • Responsible for keeping clear and accurate records; maintaining/monitoring all grant standards and funding.
  • Provides leadership for program special events, promotions and community awareness activities.
  • Works with community organizations to promote and collaborate for the benefit of Y youth development programming.
  • Responsible for implementation of all policies, goals and objectives, and procedures as established by the Board of Directors.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Document any accident/injury/incident on Incident Report Form as appropriate.
  • Work with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Willing to collaborate with school and community organizations and citizens.
  • Flexible and willing to work at other sites when needed.
  • Use program resources efficiently and ecologically.
  • Follows all Workers Comp/Accident Report procedures through completion of claim.
  • Attend staff training and all staff meetings as required.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned by the CEO.

Ability to provide clear & useful information in agracious, respectful, and helpful manner to thepublic, vendors, members, supervisors, and co-workers, in written form, via e-mail, and in person.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or 60 college units, AA degree or NCLB certification
  • Must be minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish desired.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Experience/ability to lead and communicate with groups of youth K - 6th grade.
  • A total of 15 hours of training including current certificate in Pediatric CPR and pediatric or community First Aid. The balance of the 15 hours must be in the recognition, management and prevention of infectious diseases including immunizations and the prevention of childhood injuries.
  • Must be able to drive one's own car, proof of insurance and remain insurable during employment.
  • Experience with budget development.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fundraising.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • Y Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
  • Experience with youth/teen development and parent relations.
  • Excellent organizational skills, initiative, and a proactive attitude.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with YMCA staff, youth, parents, school staff, community partners and volunteers

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Certifications need to remain current during employment
  • Live scan clearance.
  • Within first 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, and First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention training
  • Blood borne pathogens as required.
  • Valid driver's license, car registration and insurance

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings. Must be able to sit,stand and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to use hands and fingers to feel and manipulate, such as at acomputer keyboard or phone. Must be able to talk, see and hear. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and carry smalldistances. Must be able to respond audibly and call for assistance in an emergency.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to work in a quiet as well as moderately noisy work environment. Must be able to cope and functionwithin stressful circumstances. Must be able to work within deadlines. May be exposed to wind, rain, sun etc. Noother particular exposure to difficult environmental conditions known.
