SILICON DESIGN ENGINEER
THE ROLE:
We are seeking individuals with a desire to address challenging problems on a daily basis. Virtual Bring-Up (VBU) is a premiere central methodology team that strives towards excellence, utilizes novel industry technologies and comes up with innovative ways to address execution challenges.
THE PERSON:
As part of VBU, you will work across AMD's product portfolio to develop and enable methodology and tools to tackle key design cycle challenges for the company by leveraging acceleration, hardware emulation and prototyping technologies. You will have a serious level of opportunity to learn, grow and excel in this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Own system implementation from rack level to datacenter
  • Define network requirements and integration into AMD network
    • Work with AMD IT and VBU team on implementation and integration
  • Define separate SyncE/PTP network for system clocks and synchronization
    • Work with vendors on SyncE/PTP requirements
    • Component selection (switches, precision clock generation, GPS clock)
    • Building test setups
  • Investigate rack management requirements and define solutions
    • Investigate OCP solution and existing implementations
    • Work with AMD IT and VBU team on implementation and integration
    • Board management (BMC) software and system level integration
  • Create system assembly instructions
    • Write rack assembly instructions
    • Write multi-rack setup instructions

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Experienced with Python, shell scripting, and C
  • OS - ARM based Linux distribution
    • AMD Vitis / PetaLinux for building kernel and deploying on board
  • Experienced with BMC firmware
    • Sound knowledge of xSPI / I2C / eMMC
    • Clock management and firmware deployment
    • Power configuration and monitoring
  • Experience with PTP / 1588 clock synchronization stack
  • Understanding of basic PCIe Applications and interfacing with drivers
  • Good lab experience and debugging skills

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in computer engineering/electrical engineering
