Overview:
As the Shop Supervisor, you will oversee the team of about 10 people in the shop. You will also interact regularly with our small team in the office. As a small business, we are a close-knit group and all work onsite at our sole location in Owatonna.
You will be successful in this role if you are highly organized, familiar with operational processes, and skilled at keeping a production team on schedule to meet deadlines. Your humility and flexible approach foster an environment with open transfer of knowledge and learning.
Responsibilities:

- Lead by example and consistency while enforcing all Company policies included in the Employee Handbook.
- Schedule work for shop and assign jobs to employees.
- Supervise all shop employees.
- Perform regular inventory.
- Update backlog.
- Manage shop supplies and consumables.
- Manage company safety initiative and provide training as required.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Maintain company safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity standards.
- Assist with maintenance of the building and shop equipment as required or directed.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing setting.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, safety rules, etc.
- Experience working with ERP systems and Microsoft office products.
- Experience with ISO Principals and Procedures.
- Knowledge of general OSHA standards and safe work practices.
- Proven history of fostering respectful working relationships and communications with vendors, co-workers, and supervisors.
- Ability to accurately measure objects using hand-held measuring tools.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid class ‘D’ driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid forklift operator certification.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in English to the extent necessary to perform all functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- 2 year degree in welding a plus.
- Knowledge of basic welding processes, sheet metal fabrication, and metal forming processes.
- Knowledge of ASME Section IX.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Light to moderate physical effort required.
- Required to sit; stand; walk; use wrists, hands, and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.
- Must regularly lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 60 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Position requires occasional use of a computer monitor. Position requires ASME qualification which requires: employee must be able to distinguish color as required by the type of inspection being performed and vision must be 20/20 with or without corrective lenses.
- Use of proper protective equipment as required or recommended in shop area: eye protection, hearing protection; safety footwear.
