JOB SUMMARY
The Shipping Supervisor will oversee a team of associates that: pick product; pack; generate shipping labels; palletize and book freight for Programmatic Distribution and large orders; ship parcels and make sure that all shipping channels meet deadline requirements; fulfill various shipping requests from other departments. The Shipping Team sits at the downstream of Human-I-T’s Information Technology Asset Disposition (ITAD) operations, responsible for delivering a quality package experience for our customers on eBay's, Human-I-T Online and program recipients. Orders must go out correctly, on-time, neatly and protectively packaged utilizing the optimum shipping channel. Tasks must be correctly managed with proper data entry required. Ensure that the work of the department is done efficiently, effectively, and meets the goals and objectives set forth for the area. Responsible for quality, timeliness, and production reporting.
The Shipping Supervisor collaborates with other supervisors to coordinate activities and maintain a high quality of service. A successful candidate will have existing experience in shipping, and demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team. Human-I-T’s Detroit Facility is NAID AAA-certified for data security. All employees must pass a third-party background check as a condition of employment. This position reports directly to the ITAD Operations Manager within the Operations team.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Establish and adjust work procedures to meet shipping schedules
Conduct quality checks, manage labor distribution and tracks/reports productivity
Recommend measures to improve packaging and shipping methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
Demonstrate methods and train workers in sequence of shipping tasks and operation and control of machines and equipment
Review shipping schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment
Inventory and requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies for department activities
Identify and recommend changes in working conditions, processes, and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the department
Communicate company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations
Analyze and resolve work problems and assists workers in solving work problems
Motivate workers to achieve work goals
Provide support, feedback, and training for associates to ensure shipments are completed accurately and on time
Balance high quality output
Follow documented processes and procedures and make recommendations for their improvement and optimization
Adhere to established safety standards
Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs
Communicate with warehouse supervisors to coordinate work and maintain productivity
Education:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Higher education degree in Information Systems, Computing, or another related field preferred
Experience:
At least two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Prior supervisory or management experience.

Computer Skills:
- Basic computer skills required and knowledge of Google Suite preferred
