Shipping and Receiving is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing shipments of goods and materials. The Shipping and Receiving verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments, prepares items for shipment, and receives and unpacks materials and supplies.
Position Functions:
- The Pack Line Operator manages and directs in the set-up of operations on the pack line process. These functions include packaging and preparing metal coils and ensuring quality and quantity of packaged metals. Pack line Operators may work in a team to prepare metal coils weighting and packaging coils for shipping. Duties include operating machinery, loading coils, removing scrap and paper waste, and staging finished coils. This position also functions as the data entry clerk to properly label and tag identify all metal coils and is responsible for the overall quality of each coil that is processed through the pack line.
- Responsible at all times for promoting a safety culture and awareness within their area. Support and adhere to all plant safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Prepare metal coils by loading skids and packaging according to customer orders.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Assist manufacturing with preparing and inspecting bulk product. Reporting and removing defects as needed (i.e. deformed, discolored, misshaped, etc.)
- Working quickly and effectively to move products from processing to shipping.
- Proper communication protocol with all manufacturing, quality and other operations staff to communicate and escalate product or equipment issues as needed.
- Equipment operation to include, but not limited to: heavy machinery, forklift, and overhead crane, along with general tools such as wrenches, tape measure, and hammers.
- Participate in training and certification programs as needed.
- Maintain a safe and orderly work environment by removing scrap and other waste, checking machines, and identifying potential hazards.
- Train new operators, if necessary.
- Properly use a micrometer.
- Operate a crane and a forklift.
- Cut samples for quality control.
- Assist supervisor/manager and other operators as needed
Physical Requirements:
- Lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs.
- Standing and walking for almost the entirety of the shift
