Shipping Manager
Location: Greensboro, NC
Position Type: Manufacturing, Logistics, Warehouse
Overview:
The Shipping Manager oversees our outbound distribution center operations to ensure the efficient fulfillment of customer orders and intercompany transfers. Our ideal candidate has strong leadership abilities, attention to detail, and demonstrated success driving year-over-year improvements in picking, packing and shipping.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead a team of employees, including shift supervisors and employees across multiple shifts.
- Oversee the outbound order process, including picking, packing, and shipping.
- Coordinate with supply chain and procurement teams to plan appropriate inventory levels and storage utilization.
- Collaborate with other departments to address process issues impacting timely, accurate fulfillment of orders.
- Create and monitor KPIs related to replenishment, picking, packing and loading efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize shipping procedures, reducing costs and increasing efficiency.
- Resolve shipping and inventory control issues, such as delayed shipments, damaged products, and inventory accuracy.
- Involved in the hiring, training and coaching/mentoring of employees.
- Drive accountability in the Shipping department.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
Qualifications:
- BS in Business Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain
- At least 5-7 years of proven experience in a similar role in a distribution center.
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft suite of software with emphasis on Excel
- Working knowledge of modern WMS software (Microsoft D365 preferred), barcoding and RF scanning
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
- Understanding of continuous improvement principles and a commitment to drive operational excellence.
