Engineering Manager

The Opportunity
Lead a small squad of mid and Sr.-level front-end developers responsible for delivery and management of a portfolio of home services websites. You will be instrumental in charting the course for improving our site maturity and technology stack to enable new business capabilities and faster growth. You will have the opportunity to partner closely with the best in the business at SEO and SEM marketing at a hyper-growth stage business.
The Role

• Design a strategy to launch new sites and improve existing sites in the Home digital web portfolio.
• Grow and develop a team of top-notch front-end developers.
• Innovate with consumer lead generation experiences leveraging Wordpress and front-dev development frameworks.
• Manage the website tech infrastructure and identify future-proof solutions for scalability
• Build a technical roadmap for new web solutions in partnership with design, project management, and business lines.
• Ensure quality code and solutions are delivered by development teams by helping to architect scalable best-practice solutions, selecting and testing plugins, ensuring quality code commenting and documentation processes are followed AND completing code reviews prior to QA and UAT testing.
• Align team resources to the top priority projects.
• Recommend solutions and PoC's that can help create new front-end capabilities to enable new lines of revenue.
• Continue to strengthen, implement, and scale development processes to improve the overall culture and impact of our dev team.
• Serve as a thought partner for marketing teams associates and leaders

About You

• 8+ years of front-end development experience using PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Must have mastery of a modern JS framework and static site generator such as React/Next.js or equivalent.
• 5+ years of professional front-end development on top of multiple commonly used CMS systems like Wordpress, Drupal, Contentful, or Joomla.
• 3+ years managing front-end development teams supporting a portfolio of different websites.
• Track record of attracting, motivating, and retaining high-quality talent.
• A start-up mentality- we act like entrepreneurs. Our team members are incredibly driven, agile, goal oriented, and are always up for a challenge.
• Business acumen and ability to translate business needs into technical requirements. Ideal candidate has experience developing architectural plans to accomplish business goals, utilizing ERDs, DFDs and ADRs to gain approval for projects.
• Stay up to date on the latest industry trends and experiment with new solutions.
• Experience with Agile methodologies including common scrum ceremonies and tools (sprint planning, retrospective, demo, and story points).
• Familiarity with SQL / MySQL and the Wordpress $wpdb object.
• Experience managing hosting providers such as Cloudways and AWS.
• Expertise with Git and CI/CD pipelines, we use Gitflow and Github Actions.
• Bachelor's degree, preferred
• Are able to travel to Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC 5% of the year.
