JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Shipping Lead

DEPARTMENT: Shipping

REPORTS TO: Shipping Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY

Under direct supervision, responsible for the shipment of materials, supplies, and products. Gathers, verifies, and packs items for shipment according to specifications and the transportation method used. Records received and shipped items according to established procedures. Provides front line supervision to shipping team and fork lift operators in department. Must be certified to drive fork lift.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Fills, packs, palletizes, shrink wraps, and consolidates orders to prepare for shipping to distribution center or directly to customer.
• General warehouse clean up.
• Directly responsible for safe operations of warehouse equipment used to fulfill duties.
• Drive forklift as needed.
• Supervise shipping team members, providing direction daily on activities.
• May assist with cycle counts
• May unload trucks as needed.

SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to work in a fast paced, high volume environment, and have a strong attention to detail. Must be a proactive “self starter” who can work well without supervision. Requires minimum 2 to 4 years’ experience in shipping in a manufacturing environment. Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time. Requires High school education.

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS

Direction is given by Shipping Manager. Must interface with other hourly production team members. Will interface with transportation associates and external drivers / carriers.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a general manufacturing environment. Seasonal temperatures may be extreme at times including excessive heat or cold. Work area is often dusty and dirty due to the concrete materials required for production.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have ability to use hands and fingers to complete tasks quickly and efficiently. In addition, must have the ability to move freely throughout the facility without physical limitation, and capacity to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and have the ability to bend, stoop and reach.
