The Shipping Lead will ensure that trucks are loaded and unloaded properly. Follows all GMP's and food safety requirements. Ensures the shipments of safe, high quality product. Promotes good company morale. Reports any equipment and/or people issues. Ensures all checklist and required forms are filled correctly in a timely manner. Completes all tasks deemed necessary by supervisors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, guide and direct dock employees as needed to include setting targets, monitoring performance and following all procedures.
- Identifies performance or conduct issues, resolving the issue internally by reporting issues to the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Management of an efficient, clean and safe shipping operation to include dock planning and set up schedules.
- Responsible for equipment assignment in collaboration with other supervisors/management.
- Ensure the inventory is maintained and accounted for using the WMS system.
- Conduct cycle counts.
- Track and record finished goods damage and waste for the warehouse.
- Communicate with other departments to assure all loads are ready to leave as scheduled and notify other departments if loads do not leave on time.
- Lead and coordinate dock operations and personnel to include load planning, timely departures and 100% freight accuracy.
- Enforce Trailer Inspection completion on all inbound/outbound trailers.
- Follow and ensure FIFO rotation.
- Operate a stand-up forklift, double pallet jack and narrow aisle lifts in the loading/unloading of trailers as needed.
- Monitor suppliers and commercial carriers to ensure that delivery schedules are met and any issues are reported to the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Identify opportunities for Continuous Improvement. Work with Warehouse Supervisor to achieve the improvements.
- Ensure company standard practices and procedures are followed.
- Participate in weekly GMP, sanitation and safety inspections throughout the shipping department.
- Performs other related responsibilities, as needed to support Cold Storage of Nashville business objectives.
FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow all GMP's, Food Defense and quality policies.
- Properly load/unload all trailers to BRC standards.
- Ensures all GMP and all food hygiene and safety standards are in compliance.
- Report immediate non-compliance to food defense and quality.
Requirements
QUALIFICATONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 3-yrs Shipping experience.
- Food Manufacturing experience a plus.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills and have demonstrated effective interpersonal skills to interface with management, employees and business partners in a competent, and productive manner.
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position, including repeated bending, stretching, twisting, and lifting.
- Ability to set and prioritize goals.
- Worked in a continuous improvement environment preferred not required.
