The Job You Will Perform:
Being a Shift Leader requires the following abilities.
To carry out responsibilities in accordance with the company guidelines or policies and follows all applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems with the help of salaried shift supervisor and other duties as assigned. This individual would be responsible for supervision, direction and leadership in safety, quality, productivity and engagement to ensure goals are met. This is a developmental role. The intent is to prepare this individual to advance into a Supervisor position in the future.
- Actively promote and ensure compliance with safety, quality and other programs and initiatives utilized within the organization.
- Lead and motivate employees by setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance to work efficiently and effectively, while ensuring a safe work environment, and a quality product.
- Supervise employees in the daily production of corrugated containers, to include training, planning, assigning, and directing work; assist salaried supervision in evaluating employee performance; promoting safety, quality production and teamwork; resolving conflicts.
- Effectively communicate operational information in both oral and written format at all levels: crew members, other supervisors, plant management, office personnel and outside customers and vendors.
- Ability to review customer requirements and expectations in regards to the customers' orders.
- Must be Powered Industrial Truck certified and able to train crews on PIT inspection as well as tagging out faulty PIT's.
- Must be able to do the following;
- Report customer order issues for on time delivery/ production needs.
- Ability to learn Factory Floor Feedback for production flow and timely deliveries to the customer.
- Ability to learn IRF scanning systems. (VMU)
- Ability to learn Transportation/ Shipment Planning (CPMS), this includes creating loads, creating bill of ladings and moving shipped loads out of the system.
- Ability to understand quality measures regarding the loading and billing product to our customers.
- Management of FIFO to reduce aged units on hand
- Complete cleanup using the cleanup checklist.
- Complete end of shift reports in a timely manner.
The Skills You Will Bring:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Previous shipping experience required.
- Prior experience in the corrugated packaging industry preferred.
- Two years of Lead experience preferred.
