POSITION OVERVIEW
The Shipping Coordinator handles routing of customer shipments, monitoring completion of orders to meet shipping expectations, bill of lading creation, and communication with carriers to set and meet appointment times, and ship confirming of sales orders. This position interacts with Customer Service/ Order Fulfillment/Traffic to ensure routing guideline requirements are maintained. The Coordinator collaborates with both internal and external customers to establish performance excellence.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Adhere to all safety and cGMP guidelines
- Plan and coordinate customer shipments ensuring customer expectations are met.
- Be able to monitor the completion of all orders physically and systematically in order to create bill of ladings for current and future shipments.
- Maintain daily truck manifest describing what freight is loaded on what trailers. Match and verify the DOCS manifest agrees with carton count on the JDE bill of lading.
- Communicate daily with all LTL/TL carrier terminals assuring all shipments are picked up.
- Understand and operate efficiently in the JDE system concerning Shipment Consolidation.
- Understand how to handle freight charges and provide necessary documentation of shipments.
- Track all hot orders to ensure they are shipped promptly.
- Adhere to shipping regulatory-compliance procedures.
- Maintain daily reports to show the activity of pallets shipped and received.
- General knowledge in all functions connected to shipping, warehousing, order processing and pick/pack/ship confirm.
- Strong verbal and written communication is a must.
- Must be flexible to cross-train in other areas and execute multiple functions as required.
- Must have good working knowledge of Excel, Word, and JDE.
- This position may come in contact with hazardous materials so he/she must be trained to understand all regulations and procedure for handling.
- Assist with training of new employees.
- Position must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed
EXPERIENCE
- 1-3 years of experience in a fast paced distribution operation.
- Knowledge of computer/business systems.

Essential
- Must be analytical, self-starter with exceptional communication skills both written and oral
- Strong mathematical and calculator skills
- Must be a team player
- Job requires sitting, standing, bending and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds
- Knowledge of Work, Excel, Outlook.
- Must be an organized and motivated individual who can handle multiple tasks concurrently without supervision.
- General understanding of domestic and export transportation
EDUCATION
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent
