POSITION SUMMARY
The Shipping Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth transportation of goods from our Tacoma, WA and El Paso, TX facilities to destinations beyond 200 miles. Responsible for liaising with third-party carriers, the Shipping Assistant meticulously coordinates shipments, maintains accurate schedules, and communicates effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Efficiently build loads according to Agility and Crows Nest guidelines, considering equipment requirements and quantities by ship date.
- Coordinate transportation logistics for shipments originating from Tacoma, WA and El Paso, TX, with occasional involvement in out-of-state projects as per Project Manager requests.
- Maintain up-to-date shipping schedules, promptly addressing any transportation or sales order issues.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers to confirm shipment readiness, job site contacts, and resolve any logistical challenges.
- Regularly update the freight quote tracker to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Thoroughly verify carrier invoices to ensure accuracy and adherence to contractual terms.
- Foster effective communication with freight companies and internal shipping teams to streamline operations.
- Ensure all services provided meet the required standards of quality and timeliness.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Prior experience in shipping or administrative roles preferred, with a solid understanding of logistical processes.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficient in data entry and typing with a keen eye for detail.
- Comfortable navigating Microsoft Outlook and Excel for effective communication and data management.
- Demonstrates regular attendance and professionalism in all interactions.
- Exhibits honesty, integrity, and sound judgment in decision-making processes.

This role operates primarily in a professional office environment within Frontier Door and Cabinet's Tacoma, WA facilities.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Frontier Door and Cabinet’s Safety Program and all established safety rules must be followed, and equipment used where required. This will include safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection (when needed) while on the production floor.
Given the office-based nature of this position, specific safety equipment requirements are minimal. However, standard office safety protocols and ergonomic practices should be followed to ensure a comfortable and safe working environment.
