Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Apprenticeship Medical Assistant Trainee will, under the supervision of the assigned Charge Nurse, performs delegated patient care activities as directed and ordered in accordance with the training program and following demonstration of competence and skills. The program includes a paid apprenticeship to support the completion of a twelve-week intensive class sessions.
Following the completion of each the classroom session, the apprentices will receive paid On-the-Job training to fully support their transition into the role. The Apprentices will complete CPR as one of the clinical experiences. Apprentices are full-time employees with benefits.
Primary Accountabilities:
• Complete the training apprenticeship program within the scheduled program calendar.
• Complete the class schedule.
• Complete the timeline for the course modules didactic, simulation demonstration and clinical experience requirements.
• Consistently exhibit behavior and communication skills that demonstrate CommUnityCare’s commitment to superior customer service and quality care.
• Use, protect, and disclose patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards and CommUnityCare Policies and Procedures.
• Consistently uses AIDET when interacting with patients.
• Communicates timely and accurate information for delegated patient care activities performed.
• After successful completion of the program, new Medical Assistants will take the certification national exam.
• Maintain compliance with all CommUnityCare Policies and Procedures including time and attendance as well as all applicable for the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Trainee program.
• Complete other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Demonstrates wiliness to develop knowledge of activities associated with the delivery of quality Medical Assistant duties.
• Demonstrates willingness and knowledge of the operation of clinical medical equipment.
• Complete all direct and indirect care documentation in timely manner and ensure patient records are current and complete.
• Participates daily patient care (unit) huddles and periodic informational (clinic) huddles, meetings, patient conferences, or planning sessions.
• Participate in quality strategies to evaluate compliance with evidence-based guidelines, standards and to identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes.
• Develop and maintain favorable internal relationships, partnerships with co-workers, including clinical managers, clinical support staff, providers and business office staff.
• Interact respectfully and collaboratively with patients and their families, striving to develop favorable relationships with families.
