The Logistics Specialist schedules and oversees the daily shipping & receiving activities. He or she is responsible for coordinating and maintaining logistics requirements for all inbound, local and outbound shipments as well as the timely, completion of system transactions. The Logistics Specialist works very closely with various departments within the organization to effectively meet the requirements of customers. He or she will also work closely with carriers and logistics service providers to ensure logistics operations are executed timely, correctly and compliance with applicable regulations.
What You’ll Do:
- Book, schedule and coordinate weekly shipments with carriers or forwarders and communicate schedules timely
- Create shipping order packets and corresponding shipping documents for all shipments
- Monitoring and updating the shipping schedule as required and ensuring SAP transactions align with schedule
- Schedule and coordinate outbound ocean shipments to our internal warehouses, both from plant and 3PL’s
- Schedule and coordinate receiving from local vendors and suppliers for the Aurora manufacturing plant
- Complete various types of receiving transactions in SAP on a timely basis
- Support the shipment of materials that are outside of SAP inventory and require manual documentation
What We Seek:
- Knowledge and understanding of Shipping and Receiving processes
- Knowledge of local import and export compliance requirements
- Experience working with an ERP system – preferably SAP
- Understanding of all modes of transportation (ie. Air-IATA, Ground-DOT & Ocean-IMDG)
- Knowledge of documentation requirements for all modes of transportation
- Ability to work with and manage logistics service providers
- Demonstrated ability to lead a project and/or drive process improvement initiatives
- Independent worker who can prioritize their work-load in a fast paced, team-oriented environment and react quickly to changes
Outstanding Candidates Will Have:
- Associated degree or equivalent to 3-5 years Shipping and Receiving experience in a manufacturing environment role required
- Must have a strong organizational and analytical skills to perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting
- Must have good communication and time management skills
- Microsoft experience a plus
