Shipping and/or Receiving Clerk

About the Position:
Verify and maintain records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Duties include assembling, addressing, stamping, and shipping merchandise or material; receiving, unpacking, verifying and recording incoming merchandise or material; and arranging for the transportation of products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy.
- Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
- Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.
- Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
- Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
- Deliver or route materials to departments using handtruck, forklift, or sorting bins.
- Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for Shipping and delivery of materials.
- Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped.
- Compute amounts, such as space available, shipping, storage, or demurrage charges, using computer or price list.

Education
High School or equivalent and 1 year experience in Shipping/Receiving or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Technical Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of...
- Operation of Forklift.
- Understanding and proficient use of the English language
- Carpentry skills to build wooden pallets, skids and crates
- Able to input highly accurate information into Epicor ERP.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, occasional outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
