POSITION TITLE: Shipping and Receiving
DEPARTMENT: Warehouse
TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Warehouse Manager
FLSA STATUS: This position is classified as non-exempt for purposes of the provisions of the Fair
Labor Standards Act.
SALARY RANGE: $18.00hr - $24.00/hr

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Operate the Shipping and Receiving point for all stock associated with a contract or the company.
This includes preparing items for delivery including acquiring signatures if needed, maintaining records, and monitoring the movement of stock
Inspect, classify and stock new inventory
Responsible for unique Customer Service defined shipping requirements and deadlines. This includes working with contracted freight carriers to ensure accurate, on-time delivery of orders.
Report discrepancy incidents of shipments to Warehouse Manager.
Perform project work assigned by Manager, and continually monitor processes for improvement.
Shipping techs will operate UPS and FedEx manifest systems and computer program to prepare shipping label and update orders for invoicing.
Assist other warehouse employees. Must be teamwork oriented.
Assist in the verification and physical inventory process.
Perform other duties as assigned by management in support of warehouse goals.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The following is not intended to be a comprehensive list of the essential functions of this position, but rather a general description of some of the requirements necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position. The employee must be able to perform the following tasks, among others:
Shipping staff are responsible for all outgoing shipments. Receiving staff are in charge of accepting deliveries. Sometimes staff performs both tasks.

Shipping staff keep track of and maintain the inventory of goods to be shipped. They fill orders, or make sure orders filled by other workers are correct and on time. They prepare packing lists to send with the order. Staff will pack and label the materials for shipping, weigh the package, and attach postage when required. Staff may move the goods from the receiving dock to shelves and from the shelves to the shipping dock. They may move items using a hand truck, forklift, pallet jack or by hand.

Receiving staff or manager may contact other companies to arrange for pickup or delivery. When the shipment arrives, staff verifies the contents against the original order. The Warehouse staff records data about the shipment, such as quantity, style, and any damage. This information can then be transferred to the proper department.

Work Activities

• Fill orders, or make sure orders are filled correctly.
• Assist with unloading, handling and moving freight as needed as per written procedure.
• Pack and seal using the proper procedure to prepare materials for shipping.
• Move goods from warehouse to shipping dock, using forklift, hand truck or pallet jack
• Verify contents of shipment against original order. Contact Customer Service personnel who originated the documents (i.e. purchase orders, invoices, transfers, etc.) to resolve questions, inconsistencies or missing data.
• Deliver or route stock/materials to departments or proper warehouse location.
• Keep warehouse and all stock in a clean and organized manner as per procedure
• Respond to inquires regarding entered data and inventory
• Ensure accuracy of documentation of outgoing shipments and prepare shipments for pickup by weighing and affixing appropriate labels and fill out appropriate paperwork and logs and maintain records of the same.

As this position may require occasional driving duties, employees must possess a valid Drivers
License.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION: When a physical requirement is described as rarely, it means less than 5% of the shift is spent in this activity; occasionally means 6% - 33% of the shift is spent in this activity; frequently means 34% - 66% of the shift is spent in this activity;
continuously means 67% or more time during a shift is spent in this activity.
