Work Arrangement : This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Pontiac Stamping on a full-time basis.
Must have flexibility to work overtime as needed.
The Role: Pontiac Flex Fab is a first of its kind flexible manufacturing plant focused on supporting innovative sheet metal forming and assembly processes. Primary applications are focused on quick turnaround, no tooling, low volume and high mix across multiple vehicle programs and other non-automotive applications.
In this role, you will be responsible to manage and mentor salaried group leaders in the implementation and execution of the established business process for an area in the production operations. You will also foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS); focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE).
What You’ll Do:
- Utilize knowledge of multiple sheet metal forming and assembly production processes such as press brake bending, laser cutting, punching, spot welding, laser welding, arc welding and MIG/TIG welding
- Plan and manage production using Industry 4.0 tools (Trumpf Oseon)
- Use 2D/3D design and programming tools for laser cutting, punching, bending and welding for sheet metal fabrication
- Maintain safety by audits, observation and follow up of all incidents
- Maintain and improve machine up-time and prevent recurrence of breakdown issues
- Sign off on standardized work charts
- Lead meetings for SPQRCE
- Understand and comply with the terms of local and national labor agreements
- Ensure cost controls achieve budget needs
- Support area manager to resolve manpower issues aligned with union
- Support solutions for customer quality issues
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) :
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 5 years of manufacturing experience
- Leadership experience
- Knowledge of multiple sheet metal forming and assembly production processes
- Experience on using 2D/3D design and programming tools for sheet metal forming or sheet metal fabrication
- Experience with using 3D CAD software tools such as Teamcenter Visualization, NX
- Experience launching new technology while dealing with ambiguity and creating new processes
- Ability to work overtime as needed
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- 7+ years of manufacturing experience
- Experience in manufacturing operations while using Industry 4.0 software tools
- Experience working with Trumpf Software and Technology on a production or pre-production environment
- Experience on running high-mix and low volume operation
- Knowledge of and coaching experiences in Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS)
