Job Description: Casa Mateo is seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Shelter Monitor for evening shifts. As a Shelter Monitor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of residents in our shelter facility. This position requires a trauma-informed approach, as many of our residents have experienced homelessness, trauma, or domestic violence.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor shelter premises to ensure a safe and secure environment for residents and staff.
- Conduct regular rounds throughout the facility to check on residents and respond promptly to any concerns or emergencies.
- Provide support and assistance to residents in accessing resources and services, including meals, clothing, hygiene supplies, and referrals to community resources.
- Implement and enforce shelter rules and policies in a fair and consistent manner.
- Maintain accurate records of shelter activities, incidents, and resident interactions.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure effective communication andcoordination of services.
- Uphold confidentiality and respect the privacy of residents at all times.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge of trauma-informed care and best practices in serving vulnerable populations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree or in social work, psychology, or related field preferred. Candidates working towards a Bachelor’s degree are encouraged to apply.
- Previous experience working in a shelter, residential facility, or similar environment strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work evening shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
