The Towns of Rutland and Sterling are accepting applications for a shared Conservation Agent & Storm Water Coordinator.
Reporting to the Rutland Town Planner/Community Development Coordinator and the Sterling Town Administrator, this benefitted, exempt position is 38 hours a week, with a minimum of 19 hours spent in each respective town in each week.
The Conservation Agent assists in overseeing all aspects of general Town land use, development & conservation duties. This role provides support for the coordination and professional management for the Offices of Planning, Community Development & Conservation for both towns, with a particular focus and expertise in conservation-related matters and regulatory compliance. This position is the primary staff support for the Conservation Commissions of each town, along with related boards/commissions.
Minimum qualifications include working knowledge of all relevant State & Federal statutes, acute familiarity with the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and Regulations and the Rivers Protection Act. Must be proficient in understanding Town bylaws and regulations as well. Starting rate is between $26.54 and $37.38.
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental or Wetland Science, Biology/Ecology, Planning or a related field, plus at least 2 years of experience in a field relative to wetlands managements and delineation, is preferred.
