Job Description
The Service Writer (also known as a Service Advisor) helps advise service customers about how to properly repair and maintain their cars. We don't want advisors who are just order takers and who just nod their heads when the customer is expressing concerns. A Service Writer must have strong customer service skills, must be detail-oriented, can sell customer-pay work, and likes working in a fast- paced environment. The right candidate will have general automotive knowledge, an outgoing personality with expertise in developing relationships and trust, and excellent CSI scores. Bi-Lingual in Spanish is a plus!! Candidates must have a valid and clean NY driver’s license and must be able to pass a drug test and background check.

Responsibilities
- Interprets the customer's description of symptoms
- Clarifies description of problems so the mechanic can repair the problem correctly
- Translates complicated terminology into language the customer can understand
- Works with our customers to schedule service
- Verifies warranty and service contract coverage
- Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor, including deductibles, and sets expectations for cost and completion
- Prepares repair orders
- Schedules service for customers either in person or on the phone to ensure a prompt and accurate diagnosis of any problems
- Arranges service or repair and sets expectations for cost and completion
- Makes repair recommendations and manages delivery of repairs by setting and managing customer expectations
- Ensures that required documentation is complete and follows regulations and standards
- Complies with and enforces all safety policies and procedures
- Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required
- Greets all customers entering the service area with a friendly, professional attitude
- Verifies customer appointments and all relevant customer information (name, VIN, tag number, mileage, etc.)
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must fully understand the sales process involved with advising service customers about how to properly repair and maintain their cars
- Must be computer savvy, including fluency with Reynolds and Reynolds or ADP, basic Microsoft Office knowledge, internet proficiency, and familiarity with state-of-the-art automotive computer software (such as MPI, manufacturer’s websites, etc.); Reynolds and Reynolds experience is a huge plus
- Must be highly organized with excellent communication skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Must have an excellent attendance record and a commitment to being on time
- Must have a valid and clean NY state driver’s license
- Must be able to pass a drug test and a background check
- Must have an outgoing personality (a "people person")
- Must demonstrate expertise in developing relationships and providing excellent CSI scores
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $62,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
