Service Writer

Home Power Systems is a Generac, Kohler, and Cummins generator dealer with locations in Buffalo, Farmington, and Syracuse, NY. HPS is the leading installer of automatic home standby generators in Western and Central New York, having installed over 5,000 home standby generators with over 12,000 current service and preventive maintenance customers.

Home Power Systems is looking to expand our team and is currently seeking a Service Writerfor our Farmington, NY location. Our service team is a pillar of the entire organization’s effort to increase customer satisfaction. We are looking for an outgoing and well-spoken Service Writer to assist with and promoting the brand’s services through having a general understanding of generator and electrical services job types.

Salary Range: $20-24 per hour

Responsibilities:

• Answer inbound calls in a fast-paced environment
• Maintain emphasis on scheduling appointments within geographic areas of HPS territory to reduce technician travel time
• Empathize and understand the customer’s urgent generator problems
• Book generator service and maintenance appointments using ServiceTitan
• Answer customer questions and provide basic service information
• Create and send detailed estimates for service work using ServiceTitan
• Maintain the list of current service jobs using Google docs
• Order service parts using manufacturers’ websites
• Perform warranty inquiries to determine if warranty coverage is available
• Submit warranty claims using manufacturers’ websites
• Monitor and follow up with customer memberships for remote monitoring services
• Communicate with service technicians regarding appointments and service needs
• Perform detailed clerical duties to maintain and update ServiceTitan
• Communicate with customers via chat or email
• Participate in administrative tasks, communication, and coordination with internal departments
• Be prepared to complete other duties that are delegated on an as needed basis
• Some overtime on nights and weekends will be required, when the weather is bad and the phones are busy

Qualifications:

• You’re an upbeat, self-motivated person who loves helping people get the support they need
• Previous experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical services, or generators a plus
• ServiceTitan experience is a plus
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Exceptional customer service and phone skills
• Strong attention to detail with problem solving capabilities
• Strong listening and sales skills
• Ability to achieve target goals
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products
• Proficient at typing and strong computer literacy skills
