We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Vice President of Growth Innovation in Arlington, VA. This position will report to the Chief Growth Officer.
Responsibilities
In this role the selected candidate will be expected to enforce a well-disciplined, repeatable BD approach for the Space Segment, including opportunity identification, qualification, capture, proposal development, review, optimization, and support for contract phase-in (as required). Responsible for ensuring all those things are implemented within the segment and will focus in the following areas:
Business Development & Business Winning Innovation
- Leads the assessment of current organization and process to create, build, enhance, and transform the growth organization to include Market Sensing, Sales, Capture Management, Proposal Management, shaping and positioning, large, complex strategic captures, and Strategic Business Intelligence, from pre-bid, through RFP process as both prime and subcontractor.
- Develops innovative approaches and training to establish expansive visioning experience with customers and integrators on future requirements. Develop training and processes to help growth team establish trusted, high-level advisory relationships, stewarding requirements through pre-bid, RFP, and proposal to capture and win business.
- Creates strategic service offerings and priorities to drive incremental sales growth.
- Lead and develop a high performing growth team responsible for all aspects of marketing, customer relationship management, capture management, proposal development, and intelligence gathering.
- Develop strategic plans for winning new business, expanding market share, and building upon existing programs manifested by a qualified pipeline of opportunities.
- Execute strategies and campaigns in core competencies and domains to target and win large franchise opportunities. Identifies, qualifies, shapes, and leads capture of large ($100M+) opportunities.
Strategic Insight & Direction
- Provides strategic planning support to include identification of long-term market trends, new business areas for growth / investment, new customers, and customer / business relationships, and out of the box approaches to solve problems for customers.
- Translates broad strategies into specific objectives and action plans; creates or modifies structures, processes, and systems to support strategic priorities, integrates efforts across functions and locations, obtains and allocates needed resources, assigns clear authority and accountability.
- Demonstrates a broad knowledge of the market environment including current and possible future policies, practices, trends, and information affecting the business; industry trends; competition and competitive environment; and marketplace strategies and tactics.
Leadership
- Lead and compel organizational changes to adapt to changing market.
- Provide thought leadership in pursuing new and/or unconventional approaches to solve customer challenges, empowering and inspiring others to thing and approach challenges in innovative ways.
- Ensure customer focus throughout the business, building a culture focused on customer intimacy.
- Seeks out opportunities to work across functional and business boundaries to provide the best solutions. Combines the expertise of multiple disciplines to achieve innovative, integrated solutions.
- Responsible for leading and supporting continuous improvements across the function and business.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications
- Must have an excellent understanding of the vision of the company and strong communication, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, project management, and leadership skills.
- Must have or must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance at the required level. Must be able to maintain the required clearance.
- Bachelor's degree and 20 years relevant experience in the US defense and or aerospace industry
- This will be an all-encompassing role requiring experience in the BD process, Capture experience, proposal leadership experience, as well as knowledge of the customer and domains of the assigned segment.
- Experience and knowledge in relevant customer domains and product areas.
- Management experience including development of strategy for growth, transformation, or change.
- Successful experience in performing in a senior business development role required. (developing customer relationships, account strategies, qualified pipelines, industry relationships).
