Senior Transportation Engineer (Specialist) Broadband

This is a limited term may become permanent position.
Under the direction of a Principle Transportation Engineer, incumbent will be responsible for representing North Region Construction in the planning, directing, and coordinating highway construction broadband work. Incumbent is directly responsible for the development of Job Order Contract (JOC) Work Orders and assists in the administration of the construction contracts and reviews the work of State and contractor forces. Incumbent is also responsible for advising staff on construction safety as it relates to contract administration. Incumbent may need to act as the Resident Engineer for the broadband projects. This is a limited term position. Must possess a valid California Professional Engineer's License.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Engineer Exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.

Working Conditions
This position is located in Marysville, Yuba County.
The incumbent will be working in both an office and field environment. As such the incumbent may be required to travel throughout the North Region area (Districts 1, 2, and 3). Employees will also travel and work outdoors and may be exposed to dirt, noise, uneven surfaces, and/or extreme heat or cold. Job may have exposure to chemicals, equipment, machinery, heat, cold, dust, gas, fumes, outdoor conditions, indoor conditions, humidity, and high decibels of noise. Hard hat and safety vest or approved safety shirt must be worn at all times in the field, no exceptions. While at the Construction office employees will work in a climate-controlled office under artificial light. Workload may subject employee to changes of shift, changes of work hours and workdays, and geographic transfer. Travel is required. Vacations may be restricted during peak times.
New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
