About this Position:
- The Future Strategy Division sets product requirements for the next-generation lineup of models, guiding the design and engineering teams through the early development phases to achieve the overall business strategy.
- Developing the future product requirements needs a highly capable, highly knowledgeable, and highly engaged team. These leaders work to turn inputs from the market, consumer trends and values, and competitor products into sound business cases for Honda to compete. Activities in the department include validating the product roles, target customers, proposal of technology, and sensing of the market and competition.
- The position should investigate technical trends and vehicle technology values and propose to upper management by justifying business cases for the series while minimizing overall investments.
- This position is responsible for defining the overall technology application and value in the North American product line-up and the allocation of resources (~$1B) to maximize the overall sales and profit potential for future products.
- This position requires high-level collaboration between AHM, GO, RO, ADC, and 4MOC to align future customers, products, and strategies.
Responsibilities include:
- Advanced Planning: Create a competitive product plan based on core values for the next generation of vehicles. Define the winning points balancing the vehicle needs with achieving business feasibility. Create a convincing and compelling story based on objective data.
- Research: Conduct research to validate the market, customer, and product requirements and assess the marketability of future technologies and appropriate applications for planned models. Verify the defined opportunities to better understand the viability of the targets identified and determine an ideal opportunity for Honda to compete. In such cases, this person has the ability to define a hypothesis and lead the research with the business targets in mind.
- Sensing: Maintains a thorough understanding of the automotive market, technology, consumer preferences, and company strategy. Can lead a team to conduct sensing, as requested overall industry forecast, model segment forecasts, competitive activity, market trends, product strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, and internal plans for product lifecycle activities.
- Communication and Reporting: Develop and maintain project management reporting documents to ensure stakeholders throughout the company are informed. Proactively escalate issues requiring management support and manage issues through resolution.
