Located in San Francisco’s Financial District, our CPA firm client provides tax and related advisory services for real estate investors and clients with small and medium-sized businesses. They specialize in complex taxation situations and IRS audit cases, and are particularly known and referred to for their expertise in international tax matters and reporting requirements.
They are looking for a Tax Senior, capable of rapid advancement to Tax Manager in a Partner-Track Program. 40 hour work week continuously throughout the year even during tax season.
Job Description
- The Tax Seniors will provide their professional knowledge to a variety of tax engagements, and a couple of annual financial audit engagements are available for licensing hours. Tax assignments ensure broad exposure to corporate, partnership, non-profit and personal returns and tax strategies. The selected candidate will work directly with clients, business owners, and their controllers.
- Tax Seniors are responsible for unraveling complex financial situations and finding appropriate tax laws to apply.
- Tax Seniors are responsible for managing and reviewing the prep work of Juniors, as well as for producing the more complex tax returns.
- Tax Seniors will provide consulting in accounting policies and procedures to the bookkeeping staffs of clients in a wide range of businesses, as well as training and guiding Juniors within the firm.
- Tax Seniors will be proactively identifying tax and Accounting issues that could trigger an audit of the client, and will propose strategies to resolve them.
- In the event of an IRS audit, Tax Seniors will participate with the Partners in representing clients.
- Tax Seniors will be preparing financial and tax projections; developing tax strategies; providing clients with quarterly tax payments; reviewing tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, corporations, partnerships and estates; and ensuring the accuracy of all filings.
Or client also conducts nonprofit organization audits. Seniors are responsible for managing one or two audits, planning and supervising audit field work, and preparing financial statements and all disclosure requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong desire to become a partner in a boutique tax practice.
- CPA license preferred or must be on track in obtaining your CPA.
- 4+ years in tax work, accounting, financial analysis or similar preparatory work
- A solid theory foundation and understanding of accounting and auditing, including GAAP, GAAS and SSARS.
- Ability to research tax rules, accounting practices, and audit procedures using direct-call outreach to sources as well as online resources..
- Advanced proficiency with CCH ProSystem fx, QuickBooks and Excel, online research skills using IRS law libraries, BNA/CCH and other industry resource websites, and strong general computer skills across Microsoft Office Suite, time and billing software, etc.
- Attention to detail, error-free work product and disciplined procedures for documentation.
