Job Description:

This Senior Systems Engineer will oversee the daily operations of the NetApp Clustered OnTap storage environments. These are distributed across two primary data centers and connected via Fibre Channel. We leverage both Object storage for unstructured data (including S3) and Block storage for virtual infrastructure (LUN provisioning for VMFS6 datastores).

The Senior Systems Engineer must be self-motivated and possess a high level of knowledge and understanding of Aggregates, Volumes, and Dynamic Storage Tiering using NetApp Fabric Pool. As a senior role, this position will be expected to mentor less experienced team members and provide guidance to mature the skillsets of others on the Systems Engineering team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Deploy new OnTap Select instances for practice office file caching using FlexCache
• Possess proficient understanding of FPolicy configuration for auditing
• Build new and maintain existing CIFS shared volumes, including SnapVault targets, Snap Mirror relationships, and quota management
• Seek opportunities to automate using a variety of tools and scripting languages (Service Now, PowerShell, etc).
• Experience with Ansible or Terraform as well as understanding of the REST API is a plus
• Maintain the storage runbook for disaster recovery leveraging volume failover using SnapMirror
• Keep up with trends in the constantly evolving information technology industry by reviewing white papers, technical blogs and attending user groups and conference events.
• Work alongside other departments to achieve firm projects and goals and assist in resolving technical hurdles when able
• Prepare reports on performance metrics and growth trends to management.
• Resource Monitoring and performance troubleshooting using Cloud Insights
• Forecast budgetary numbers for capital and operational expenses for the upcoming year.
• Work directly with partners and vendors to evaluate technical solutions and upon successful POC testing, deploy hardware/software into production following procurement
• Balance daily operational workloads with longer term project-based workloads
• Coordinate repair and maintenance of all storage systems
• Continued education through training, maintaining and developing modern skillsets
• Be capable of cross-training in additional technical domains to assist in backing up team members during periods of absence or higher than normal volumes of work

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• In-depth knowledge of infrastructure systems and networking concepts
• DFS Namespace management and DNS aliasing, as well as Access-based enumeration via SMB
• Thorough knowledge of encryption technologies, At Rest Encryption using external key management and certificates for KMIP registration
• Familiarity with NVME technology, its requirements and limitations
• Detail-oriented and delivers accurate, quality work
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and flexible with good time management skills
• Security conscious in all tasks to avoid sensitive data falling into wrong hands
• Ability to think clearly while effectively handling stress, pressures, and challenges
• Decisive when required and able to quickly resolve challenges
• Strong understanding of business goals and standards for customer service

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• At least 10 years experience working in the IT industry as a technical storage engineer in a medium to large scale environment
• Previous data management oversight for of millions of files and 100+ terabytes of data is recommended
• Ability to handle multiple jobs (and wear multiple hats) at the same time.
• In-depth knowledge of infrastructure systems
• High level of written and verbal proficiency, including familiarity with various technical terminology and industry acronyms
• Experience with automation and PowerShell is a plus
• Utilize the Cohesity platform to provide data resiliency
• Varonis DatAdvantage experience is preferred
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and flexible with good time management skills
• Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
• Ability to think clearly while effectively handling stress, pressures, and challenges
• Provide world-class customer service when interacting with all areas of the business and its clientele
• Functional knowledge of IP and data communication fundamentals
• Problem solving/troubleshooting abilities
• Ability to work well in a project team environment
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
• Will take on all other duties as assigned

This position requires the ability to lift up to fifty pounds and to install equipment at any position in standard 7-foot EIA Relay Rack or NetApp cabinet. Occasional but infrequent travel may be required.

Pay & Benefits Summary:

Starting salary is $100,000-$110,000
