The Senior Store Operations Specialist, Sustainability partners with the Manager of Store Operations and the TJX Environmental Sustainability Department to establish and drive strategies to support the company’s sustainability efforts, commitments and goals by championing and evolving the HomeGoods/Homesense Store Operations sustainability program. They focus on working to increase the amount of waste materials diverted from landfill and increase recycling (corrugate, plastic, etc.) in TJX’s HomeGoods and Homesense stores and drive other operational efficiencies throughout the chain.

Sustainable Operations Strategy Development:

  • Partners with key internal stakeholders (Store Operations, Facilities, Communications, Procurement, Distribution Services, Marketing, etc.) to drive the business case creation and recommended implementation approach for ensuring progress against TJX’s publicly stated environmental sustainability goals and initiatives.
  • Helps to identify new streams of revenue or cost avoidance that could result from our recycling efforts.
  • Collects and reports key divisional sustainability data to appropriate stakeholders, based on requests.
  • Assists in the development of new or expanded operational sustainability goals (ex: increased waste diversion strategies).
  • Partners on and maintains an Associate Engagement strategy aimed at internally promoting sustainability program values to Home Office, Field, and DC Associates.
  • Communicates & presents to leadership/field partners on Sustainability efforts/initiatives.


Internal Process:

  • Works with key stakeholders to understand the Voice of the Customer (VOC) and how recycling/diversion efforts can be more efficiently executed.
  • Partners on and maintains an enhanced communication strategy to effectively promote and execute the sustainability initiatives.
  • Initiates and develops cross-functional partnerships.
  • Partners with the Environmental Sustainability team to understand the landscape of forthcoming environmental regulations.
  • Collects data relating to sustainability KPIs/targets and measure impact of sustainability programs/initiatives.


Collaborate with External Partners:

  • Serves as co-lead on engagement with any third-party service.
  • Participates in Retail Industry Leadership Association “Zero Waste Network” meetings.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree, ideally with a focus on sustainability, or equivalent work experience (minimum 2 years).
  • Retail Store Operations and/or sustainability experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of sustainability, Store Operations, the retail industry, consumer goods industry, product development, or supply chain preferred.
  • MS Excel skills that can be used to combine and analyze data from various sources and generate reports and graphics to help drive decision-making.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and team-oriented environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically to deliver results.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

This role is hybrid 2 days per week in the office in Framingham, it is not open to remote.
