StataCorp LLC is seeking a Senior Statistician and Software Developer in College Station, TX.
Job duties
Reviewing and providing feedback on Stata code and documentation. Validating, testing, and certifying the software implementation of new statistical commands in Stata using various programming languages such as Mata, C, and C++. Comparing performance and bench-marking new Stata commands against other software packages such as R, Matlab, and SAS. Research and development of new time-series methods with focus on time-varying parameter (TVP) models, which Stata currently lacks. TVP models are of great importance to modern econometrics for their ability to model the time-varying nature of economy. Research and development of new Bayesian statistical methods, more specifically, Bayesian quantile regression and Bayesian TVP models. Bayesian methods are computationally very intensive and require strong expertise in both algorithm design and development, and computer programming. Extending the graphical capabilities of Stata with new commands facilitating Bayesian model averaging. Providing technical answers to Stata users regarding statistical techniques or software implementation. Providing answers to statistical questions posted on Statalist by users. Writing blog posts regarding the implementation of different statistical techniques using Stata. Submitting articles to Stata Journal that discuss and implement new statistical methods.
Education Required: PhD in Statistics or Management Science (or foreign equivalent)

Special Requirements: Demonstrated knowledge of statistical data analysis and modeling, programming in statistical script languages (R, Matlab, SAS), programming in general-purpose computer languages (C/C++)
