General Summary:
UNUM Group seeks Sr. Software Engineers (Lead) - Benefits Mainframe in Chattanooga, TN.
Responsible for software development within Unum's agent compensation applications. The Sr. Software Engineer (Lead) - Benefits Mainframe is a key member of an Agile team and leads the conceptualization, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of new and existing features for the existing portfolio of agent compensation applications using COBOL, CICS Online, DB2, Mainframe, IBM , Agile, CSF, FTP, EDI, SQL, Stored Procedures, JCL, and Long Term Care (LTC); ensures application solution design conforms to agreed upon quality attributes such as performance, fault tolerance; and designs, codes, configures, unit tests, maintains, and documents software deliverables using agreed upon standards and tools. Specific core duties involve supporting our Benefits Mainframe Technology, working with agent compensation, DB2, and supporting distributed flow from mainframe to .NET web services; creation and application of technical road maps, standards, tooling and frameworks; ensuring that software solutions are secure and scalable and comply with defined standards and best practices; evaluating technical impacts and coordinating implementation of new software releases; estimation, design, implementation, and maintenance of new and existing features for the existing portfolio of software applications; analyzing user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints; communicating and collaborating with key stakeholders in the delivery of software features; participating in code reviews and sprint retrospectives; automated testing of software to industry standards of software automation ensuring very high quality application/solution delivery and efficient regression of existing features; learning how our daily JOBS are run and how to tweak them to deliver appropriate % numbers to the brokers; ensuring that the latest project progress is known to the agile team by ensuring Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools are up to date; and participating in daily standups outlining progress made, progress planned and detailing impediments.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus 5 years of experience. Requires 5 years of experience with the following: Software development & design (DB2 & Cobol); Mainframe and Distributed Support; Batch Operations, Stored Procedures, JCL, SQL; Working in a scrum environment with Agile development/methodologies; COBOL, z/OS System, CICS Online, DB2, Mainframe, IBM RACF, Agile, Streamweaver, CSF, FTP, EDI, SQL, Stored Procedures, JCL, Long Term Care (LTC).
Telecommuting from home within normal commuting distance permitted up to 3 days/week.
40 hours/week, $130,000 - $140,000 per year. The wage range for this position supersedes the base salary range listed below, due to the salary range below reflecting a national range. The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$89,400.00-$174,800.00
