Job Summary

Purdue University is looking for an individual who desires meaningful work that directly impacts Indiana's manufacturing sector. The mission of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) is to advance Indiana's prosperity, health, and quality of life. Each year MEP serves hundreds of manufacturing companies, businesses, high-tech start-ups, life science companies, governmental units, and not-for-profit organizations. Impacts include significant sales increases, cost reductions, capital investments, and jobs created or saved.

The Quality Senior Services Manager is a Subject Matter Expert who can deliver high-value, fee-based services to a diverse base of manufacturers in Indiana. This position is also responsible for development, delivery, consulting, and training in Quality Control and Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO) for manufacturing operations, engineering, and management personnel. This includes consulting and training for Quality Management Systems on the path to system certification. Customer satisfaction and project impact are measured by return on investment and client surveys.

The individual in this role is an experienced professional who can facilitate, manage, and provide constructive feedback to manufacturing personnel, including operators, engineers, executives, and key stakeholders. This position will utilize various skills, tools, and exercises to ensure consistent engagement and productive discussion of all participants while maintaining a respectful environment.

This position requires travel in Indiana and occasional travel outside Indiana. The office location for this position will be a home office or within one of Purdue's statewide or partnering facilities in accordance with Purdue policy.

Strict adherence to Purdue confidentiality policies is required.

This position is eligible for annual incentive compensation.

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, or a closely related field
  • Six (6) years of experience with team leadership and implementing and managing two (2) or more of the following:
    • Quality Management Systems: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 13485, TS16949, or AS9100
  • Lead Auditor Certification
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Adept and disciplined in CRM portal use in (e.g., SalesForce), logging client activity, personal performance measures
  • Excellent skills in consulting and training
  • QMS implementation and internal auditing skills
  • Adherence to development standards and QMS documentation
  • Ability to analyze business performance, areas for improvement, performance metrics, or Measurable Impact
  • Proficiency with the following software: Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid US driver's license
  • Ability to drive an automobile for up to 6 hours within a day
  • Additionally, up to 3 hours of driving with an overnight stay outside of the home


Preferred

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Technology, MBA, or related field
  • Ten (10) years of experience implementing and managing three of the following Quality Management Systems: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 13485, TS16949, or AS9100.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, Engineer or Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence
  • ISO/TS 16949 Supplier Auditor
  • Experience with Lean initiatives: Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5-S, Pull/Kanban, Etc., or Project Management, Leadership, or Supply chain
  • Supplier development experience and responsibility
  • Project management experience and responsibility
