Summary:

The Senior R&D Project Manager within the Technology Development group will be responsible for the leadership of development projects from concept to launch. This individual is responsible for the successful execution of major product development projects. This position plans, coordinates and leads the execution of activities to ensure that the goals and objectives of the project are accomplished within the prescribed timeframe and funding parameters. The position is technical in nature and the applicant must have an engineering background in order to manage and contribute to the development of new products.

Successful candidates will have a track record of delivering results, executive communication, and leadership. Cross-functional communication and collaboration is essential. Knowledge of construction practices is a plus. Experience working on automation equipment and software projects is preferred. Travel may be required within the continental United States to support projects and PMO team requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the execution of assigned product development projects in accordance with established processes and procedures.
  • Lead and motivate cross-functional team performance toward the goal of completing projects according to the defined objectives.
  • Experience interacting directly with customers to understand voice of customer and customer requirements.
  • Clear understanding of a research and development process from concept through launch; including technical design reviews and business stage gates
  • Ability to balance electrical, mechanical, and software development issues at the system level.
  • Develop detailed project work plans and schedules.
  • Manage product requirements and traceability.
  • Lead design review and risk management activities.
  • Manage technical partners/ vendors supporting product development activities.
  • Effectively utilize problem solving skills and techniques to identify potential issues, assess their impact, and develop and implement mitigation and resolution plans and activities.
  • Employ excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with all levels of personnel and management.
  • Prepare and/or manage the preparation of all required project documentation.
  • Facilitate and coordinate project team meetings and management presentations as required.
  • Experience and demonstrated leadership of a cross-functional project core team to ensure delivery of technical solution.
  • This position may require travel up to 20%.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree preferred in Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Automation Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of project management experience, running complex projects.
  • 5+ years of experience as an engineer developing products.
  • Demonstrates highly effective presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to positively influence outcomes, key project decisions, and strategic problem-solving.
  • Communicates clearly and presents key information objectively to all levels of the organization including executive management.
  • Ability to predict risks and independently propose solutions and appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Ability to drive decision-making within cross-functional and cross-cultural, global team structure.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks of varied complexity.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • PMP preferred.
