Job Description
SUMMARY
Reports to the Quality Assurance Manager, supervises and directs the quality assurance program ensuring compliance to the Food Safety and Quality Systems, customer specifications, and Code of Federal Regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assures that each area of operation is operating within the applicable specifications as documented by the Food Safety and Quality Systems Plan (FSQSP).
- Supports the Operations teams and QA in conducting root cause analysis and corrective action determinations and implementation.
- Provides operation staff with information regarding items being produced and packaged.
- Act as a liaison with new and existing customers and BNA-OH QA while launching new products.
- Interacts with commercial customers by providing requested actions and information such as product releases, investigations, and product sampling.
- Supports Operations by certifying / validating on-line quality control technicians.
- Schedules and directs the work of the QA Technicians in Record Review area and Food Plant laboratory.
- Pathogen Environmental Monitoring process owner, coordinate environmental swabbing and corrective actions
- Provides corrective action (CA) reports in response to audit nonconformances and other findings made by commercial customers and/or regulatory agencies.
- Coordinates with QA supervisors to perform finished product releases and issues rework orders when needed.
- Tracks inventory and facilitates any work required to release products.
- Back up for the sensory program is executive to meet the commercial Customer expectations.
- Participates and leads internal audits of the FSQSP and Facility Audit
- Assists in consumer complaint investigations and responses
- Is the back-up/alternate in the absence of another QA Supervisor, Commercial and QA Manager, Commercial
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED
- Obey GMP’s and PPEs for production areas.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 1 to 12 employees consisting of quality technicians and quality record review. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Three to four years related experience and/or training in the quality assurance/manufacturing field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations in the general area of Quality Assurance. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Ability to communicate in Spanish.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
