We’re looking for someone with meaningful design experience who can help us create the best job search tools in the ‘biz.
If that’s you, wave your hand ‘cuz we want to talk with you!
Hours: Up to 20 per week
❓Who we are
We’re BeamJobs—helping job seekers navigate the often frustrating, ambiguous process of finding and landing a new job throughout each step of the search.
Here’s where we’re at:
- We launched our resume builder in June 2020
- Since then, we’ve helped over 2M job seekers across the globe improve their resumes
- We’re a bootstrapped team of 4 full-time employees (including the 2 co-founders) plus a small team of contractors and VAs
- We work 100% remotely
- We’re just getting started
You’ll be working most closely with me (Justin, one of the co-founders) on the product team and occasionally with our content team. Feel free to check out my LinkedIn (I worked at Google after college then left to start BeamJobs).
️ What you’ll do
We’re looking for a seasoned Product Designer who’s excited to join a small team and take ownership over our design process. Up until now, I’ve been doing all our design work and I’m far from a professional. This is really starting to be a bottleneck for us.
You’ll own the design work and design systems for our entire company. You’ll spend most of your time on our suite of products (resume builder, cover letter generator, etc) and spend some of your time working on our world-class blog (here’s a sample post that does well for us).
This is a contract position of up to 20 hours per week.
Requirements
We’re looking for a designer that’s interested in working with an early-stage startup. That involves the ability to adapt quickly, a desire to understand how to improve the health of the business, and an interest in creating a design system that allows future designs to be easier to create, not harder. We’d like someone that:
- Has 3+ years experience designing software products that are live on the web
- Has expertise with Figma
- Has experience building out a design system (or UI kit) with re-usable patterns that enables consistency across products/ pages
- Can create pixel-perfect web UIs that delight users at every turn, with a meticulous eye for detail
- Can communicate effectively in both written and spoken English
- Is organized about their work, and hits deadlines on time with frequent communication
- Bonus: It’s a plus if you have experience using Notion, but it’s okay if you don’t—it’s easy to learn.
