Reporting to the Corporate Supply Chain Manager, the Senior Procurement Specialist purchases, organizes, and oversees activities involved in the identification and acquisition of products for Specialty Formulations. This role is responsible for supporting West Coast operations.
Essential Functions
VENDOR RELATIONS AND MANAGEMENT:
- Monitor inventory at multiple locations and make purchases to have an appropriate amount of material available at the proper location and the appropriate time
- Negotiates prices for raw material and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and/or freight companies.
- Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements to achieve the best total value position.
- Examine and evaluate marketplace business conditions, vendor opportunities and new product introductions.
- Engage in sourcing to improve quality, cost, lead time and find alternative or new vendors in different geographies.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance the working relationship between the company and our suppliers.
- Regularly poll the sales force and vendor representatives for opportunities and concerns.
INVENTORY MANAGEMENT:
· Analyze sales history and forecasts to project future inventory needs.
- Responsible for controlling the company inventory, making sure that the inventory level is reviewed on a continuous basis, setting stock levels.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform administrative duties, including entering purchase orders, posting deliveries in the system, scanning receipts, etc.
- Responsible for all purchasing and inventory functions
- Evaluate and offer suggestions to increase results, which should include better methods, systems and procedures.
- Participate in department meetings that assess vendor quality control, pricing and availability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience in purchasing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Assertive, self-motivated, goal and result driven.
- Proficiency in Excel and Outlook.
- Proven analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Strong database and computer skills.
- Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results.
- Experience in process improvement.
- Experience working with MRP systems.

Work Environment
The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily in an office environment with prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasionally works in warehouse/plant in heat/cold conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazards. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
Classification/Expected Hours of Employment
This position is a full-time position that is non-exempt. Works a minimum of 5 eight-hour days (Monday – Friday) per week with overtime as required.
