SAPA Transmission, in its growth in the U.S.A., is looking for a Senior Procurement Specialist (Senior Buyer) to assist in ensuring all tasks between SAPA Transmission and its selected vendors are negotiated, instituted, and managed effectively and efficiently to meet business objectives. Will work closely with the Supply Chain Manager, Production, Engineering and Program Management Department to secure all components necessary to produce the transmission for the Army’s tracked armored vehicles.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and performance criteria while promoting supplier diversity and sustainable procurement practices when applicable.
- Maintain and cultivate relationships with key suppliers to ensure a stable and efficient supply chain for SAPA Transmission’s prototype and production build phases.
- Develop / Execute / Implement sourcing strategies to fulfill the procurement, inventory, and distribution of assigned direct components to support program timelines and achieve cost targets.
- Monitor supply markets and trends, and implement risk management strategies to mitigate supply chain risks.
- Lead the solicitation and preparation of Request for Quotations (RFQ), Request for Proposals (RFP), and Request for Information (RFI) for direct components to ensure most cost-effective pricing.
- Manage price analysis of quotations; cost analysis and negotiation of proposals; fact finding in RFI’s.
- Create and report out Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and assist with the development of a vendor scorecard.
- Drive timely completion of Purchase Orders in Deltek consistent with contract requirements.
- Supports the process to maintain ISO 9001:2015 and FAR / DFAR certification.
- Responsible for maintaining policies, procedures and work instructions that assist the Supply Chain Department.
- Position requires interfacing with other functional departments such as Production, Program Management, Engineering, Quality and Accounting.
- Research advanced technologies that provide SAPA Transmission a competitive advantage.
- Recommend continuous process improvement ideas, develop strategic plans, and support ERP system testing and implementation.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Procurement Specialists to ensure their growth and development within the SAPA Transmission organization.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, or equivalent. Master’s degree a plus.
- 5 - 10 years of experience in a procurement role; preferably within the defense industry.
- Experience with procurement of machining parts (gears, turning and milling parts) made of steel and aluminum.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate complex contracts with vendors.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Able to build a rapport with all levels of the organization.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products including Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Deltek Costpoint.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask assignments to meet deliverables.
- APICS or equivalent certifications a plus.
- Proactive attitude towards work, teamwork, and cooperation.
- Availability for traveling to visit vendors.
