The Role:
Using a combination of scientific rigor, engineering fundamentals, and interpersonal skills, you will start up, stabilize, and continuously improve production at various precision fermentation DSP production sites. You will make critical decisions in the field to ensure the success of production batches.
Based on your learnings from the field, you will identify gaps in process knowledge, and then design and execute laboratory experiments to close them. Similarly, you will advise internal researchers on how to run experiments that are relevant to production sites, and you will communicate these improvements in a convincing manner to external stakeholders.
You enjoy traveling and working with multicultural teams, and you are inspired by the opportunity to make an impact at large-scale industrial food production facilities.
What you'll accomplish
- Apply and adapt Every's Tech Transfer Document to new production facilities in order to produce high-quality products.
- Dive deep into the nuances of each production site to understand limitations and opportunities for optimization. Develop process flow diagrams, mass balances, and production models.
- Author and review SOPs, Tech Transfer Documents, and MOCs
- Perform risk assessments and identify safety and food safety hazards
- Develop experimental plans based on learnings from CMO production sites. Effectively communicate relevant scale-up and scale-down parameters to internal researchers. Gain buy-in from internal teams to move your ideas ahead.
- Execute experiments in the laboratory or pilot plant to test key hypotheses.
- Manage vendors to trial and implement new process technologies, including unit operations, sensors, and analyzers.
- Review and redline process flow diagrams and P&IDs
- Develop User Requirement Specifications and review the execution of project teams to ensure the requirements are met
- Propose and defend Management of Changes to improve operations in a production environment
- Review and propose improvements to hygienic design
What you bring (required)
- BS in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline, with 5 years of industry experience; MS with 4+ years of industry experience.
- Ability to travel internationally to CMOs is required (Up to 50%)
- Experience executing a technology transfer to an industrial-scale biotechnology facility, including authoring and reviewing SOPs, batch records, technical plans and reports
- Experience executing Management of Changes to improve operations in a running production facility
- Hands-on experience running laboratory or pilot equipment, including TFF, depth filtration, continuous centrifugation, and chromatography
- Experience using techno-economic analysis to defend proposals
Nice-to-have (but not required)
