If you are an innovator who is passionate to build new technology in Apple products, join us! We are a battery engineering team in hardware technology group. We are developing a band new battery technology which delivers more energy in a smaller space than before. We closely work with world-class NPI, Ops and GSSM battery teams to validate the technology and MP feasibility with the target to integrate the technology to Apple products. This role will be responsible for technology transfer to scale partners. This includes development and simulation production-intent manufacture processes on a pilot-scale equipment while realizing key cell performance and economic target. This individual will work with scale partner in developing production-scale equipment design and readiness for procurement to realize first low-volume production line. This includes line layout, material handling between stations and preventative maintenance (PM) planning, to demonstrate path to high-volume manufacturing that achieves program goals.
Key Qualifications
- Proven hands-on experience in Thin Film deposition.
- In-depth knowledge is required for equipment design, Process Development, trouble shooting and process control.
- Established skill is critical for integration with up- and down-stream processes to optimize battery performance.
- Proven problem-solving and trouble shooting skills for battery material, component and system are required.
- Skilled in relevant software, quality assurance, and process control methods (SPC, run chart, MATLAB, JMP, Tableau, etc.) are essential.
- Proficient with statistical analysis and problem-solving tools (SPC, GRR, DOE, Fishbone, FMEA, FACA etc)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Description
• Establish critical-to-quality metrics, perform process sensitivity analysis through design of experiment (DOE), and create standard operating procedure (SOP). • Drive process and part readiness through extensive data collection and statistical analysis to bridge to program goals. • Build comprehensive process control metrics. • Drive measurement system analysis (MSA) for process and quality control. • Drive overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) for production-intent tools. • Report and present to multi-functional, as well as executive teams, with progress, top issues, solutions and next-step plans.
Education & Experience
BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience PhD/MS in material science, physics, chemistry, chemical engineering and mechanical engineering or related field are preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Travel may be required to achieve effective technology transfer and production line readiness. Travel may be frequent and/or extensive depending on program need.
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $160,700.00 and $282,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
