Position Summary

The Process Control Engineer, reporting to the Maintenance Manager, will develop, implement, and maintain Process Control strategies for existing and future systems at the San Diego plant.  This plant operates year-round, 24 hours/day. In this role you identify gaps and improvement processes, manager projects and track progress, work alongside others in a fast-paced production environment collaborating with Process Engineers and the process safety team. Support the plant on a routine "on call" situation.

Responsibilities
  • Support to the following control systems and HMIs:

                Intellution (for iBatch, iFIX HMI, and SCADA)
                Emerson Delta V
               (OSI) PI Data historian.
                Experience in (Siemens) Moore-APACS DCS a plus

  • Operational Technology (OT) skills
    • Allen Bradley/Rockwell Control Logix system, & PLC family (PLC5, Control Logix and Micro Logix)
  • Develop and implement code from concept on all aspects of an automation project
  • Troubleshoot active processes and during commissioning/start-up
  • Participate as subject matter expert on company policy driven initiatives like HAZOP-LOPA
  • Provide specification for all aspects of control components
  • Stay abreast of applicable standards and policies including the Corporate Quality Policy and Huber Principles
  • Provide ongoing technical support to production & maintenance in the areas of DCS and PLC configuration changes, Process Control parameter changes, configuration modifications and troubleshooting
  • Maintain complete copies of current configuration documents and provide updates to the PSM library
  • Track and Update PCCR forms to reflect all changes to configurations downloaded to the system
  • Train operators and technical coordinators to ensure development of good operating practices

 

 

Required Skills
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other Engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5-years working in a controls role preferably in manufacturing or chemical industry
  • Proficient with OPC, and VBA and will need to be able to maintain configuration of all these systems.
  • Working knowledge of Allen Bradley DH+, Modbus, and ASi systems
  • Experience with Virtual servers (VMWare) and virtual LAN (VLAN) 
  • DCS and PLC systems experience
  • Ability to read I/O, loop drawings and P&IDs
  • Microsoft Windows administration and networking experience
  • Demonstrated Project Management Skills
  • Effectively summarize complex and conflicting data to help others understand
  • Drives for results, striving for high standard of excellence and finding more productive ways of doing things to streamline the operation and improve efficiencies.
  • Ability to lead teams, influence other, and develop strong relationships with Engineers, Supervisors, Manager, and other Employees
  • Able to organize time and priorities to effectively handle multiple functions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Salary Range $95,000 - $130,000 plus 15% bonus and profit sharing that can go up to 21% of your base pay. Very generous 401K plan with a 6.25% match on your 5% plus after 1 year of service we contribute 5% of your base pay into a non elective account every year!
