Our planning practice is seeking an energetic and highly motivated Senior Planner to support a wide array of projects, including housing, land use, public engagement, urban revitalization, community and master planning, climate change/resiliency, and permitting support. Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team of planners, designers, engineers, and scientists on the design, presentation, documentation, and production of various projects involving community planning, urban revitalization, and environmental justice. This is a full-time position. BSC offers a flexible hybrid work option.
Responsibilities:

  • Manage various planning projects, primarily public sector, overseeing the budget, team, scope, design, presentation, documentation, and production.
    • Research, analyze, evaluate, generate, and present planning, housing, land use, zoning, and urban design ideas.
    • Conduct research and draft reports, and maps for planning and permitting documents.
    • Coordinate directly with staff, clients, and subconsultants
  • Engage the community by helping prepare presentation materials, attending client and community meetings, conducting public outreach, and facilitating community engagement.
  • Assist in the guidance, delegation, and supervision of junior planning staff.
  • Contribute, as needed, to business development, project proposals and interviews.
  • Provide internal technical support to BSC's multidisciplinary team of project managers, as needed.
  • Write at both a technical level and a strategic level for program updates, planning reports, PowerPoint presentations, and funding applications.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: 8+ years in the field of planning; public sector and/or public project experience preferred.
  • Excellent technical writing, organizational, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with staff from different disciplines and backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of organizations, processes, policies, and regulations associated with public sector planning and development.
  • A bachelor's degree in land use planning, community planning, urban planning, regional planning, geography, or a closely related field with minimum of eight years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification preferred.
  • Must have a valid Massachusetts Driver's license.
  • A quick wit, attention to detail, and passion for enhancing the communities we live in
  • A desire to grow in the profession, dedication to excellence, and commitment to clients
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required; Experience with Adobe, Bluebeam, and ArcGIS is preferred.
