Versar is seeking a Senior Planner and Project Manager to support and grow our coastal resilience and climate adaptation program. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience with working collaborative on the development of complex and innovative shoreline stabilization, climate resiliency, and shoreline restoration projects for the Department of Defense (DoD). This position may also be asked to prepare Installation Development Plans (IDPs) and contribute to high-quality Environmental Impact Statements (EISs) and Environmental Assessments (EAs) for Air Force and other DoD agencies.
This role can be performed remotely and is organized under Versar’s Environmental Management Group (EM). Candidates must be professional, resourceful, and flexible. We are looking for a Planner with strong technical, leadership, and Project management skills who thrives on challenges and understands the important role planning plays in climate and NEPA work.
Your contributions will include:
- Working closely with Versar teammates, partners, and local, state and federal clients to develop and implement programming that addresses coastal issues.
- Leading coastal resilience initiatives including meeting facilitation, managing technical studies, and formulating long range strategic planning that directly influences decisions on shoreline and waterway management throughout the country.
- Implementing environmental restoration projects and initiatives nationwide, including performing environmental assessments and research to acquire necessary federal and state permit approvals.
- Providing expertise in land use, facilities, infrastructure, strategic, and climate resilience planning, along with economic analyses, project programming documentation, and real property inventory management to develop sustainable master plans.
- Bringing in-depth knowledge of applicable environmental laws and DoD regulations to the planning process to ensure that clients’ investment decisions reflect established standards and best practices.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Master’s degree in community/urban planning, architecture, or landscape architecture
- 10+ years of experience, certification (AICP, RA, RLA) preferred
- Relevant federal agency and military master planning project experience
- Relevant project management experience preferred
- Ability to work individually with minimal oversight and lead project tasks and/or teams
- Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to meet aggressive project schedules
- Exceptional technical writing, analytical, and oral communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and shifting priorities
- Ability to support projects that occasionally require travel with overnight stays
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. Citizenship or ability to obtain security clearance for work on DoD Installations.
