We are looking for a seasoned payroll professional to join our global payroll team. Under general direction, the ideal candidate will work closely with Payroll and various G&A teams to process and help enhance our payroll operations for 500+ employees. As a key contributor, the successful candidate will process multi-cycle payroll timely and accurately using an audit-centric approach, as well as actively participate in ongoing process improvements.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Fully understand and apply payroll concepts to review, analyze, process, record, and reconcile multi-cycle payroll in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Provide guidance, process and support the payroll team on various activities including but not limited to: bonus/commissions, LOAs, retros, garnishments, fringe, shadow payroll, mobile employees, third party sick pay, bonus clawbacks, overpayments, wage/tax corrections.
  • Active participant in bridging operational gaps between cross-functional teams (People Ops, HRIS, Benefits, Accounting, IT, Legal, Audit, Equity, Tax) and Payroll; collaborate with key constituents and third-party vendors on new programs and initiatives; facilitate meetings.Stay abreast of federal, state and local labor laws, regulatory changes, payroll, wage and hour laws; maintain compliance with all payroll tax jurisdictions; enforce company policies, and adhere to SOX Controls. Consult with subject matter experts on evolving business needs to ensure processes and procedures remain in compliance.
  • Partner with Equity Team in planning and coordinating quarterly RSUs and ESPPs and associated activities. Review support files for completeness. Process and audit mass EIBs. Validate and reconcile against original sources for accuracy.
  • Process stock options, exercises and tax apportionments in accordance with federal and state reporting requirements.
  • Liaise between third-party payroll vendors, Payroll team, HR, managers, and employees in enhancing Workday Payroll system functionality, data integrations, interface, custom build, and calculated fields. Collaborate with external consultants on payroll and time tracking module enhancements, testing, troubleshooting, and custom reporting. Manage tickets and resolve cases in a timely manner. Maintain and update pay codes, GL and W-2 mapping.
  • Develop, maintain, and update internal procedures, checklists, tools, and other team resources.
  • Responsible for global payroll JEs, reconciliation of payroll accounts, flux analysis, and audit requests.
  • Participate in quarter-end, year-end preparation, new year system updates, tax recons, annual tax forms, 401(k) audit, workers' comp audit, and other ad hoc requests.
  • Respond timely to payroll inquiries from employees, vendors, and auditors. Address sensitive and/or escalated issues with management and employees.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related area and at least 8 years of end-to-end US payroll processing; or an equivalent combination of education and training. Prior experience with project management, systems implementations, and/or data integrations, preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state and local wage & hour laws.
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll processes, policies and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of payroll concepts and best practices, including tax and accounting principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of internal control practices and their impact on protecting Amplitude resources.
  • Familiarity with FMLA and various state PFML benefits, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Workday Payroll module and ADP Smart Compliance.
  • General understanding of vendor and stakeholder management.
  • Prior experience with equity and stocks options.
  • Prior experience with journal entries and reconciling Cash and balance sheet accounts.
  • Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills to interpret, evaluate and resolve moderate to complex problems.
  • Strong research, analytical and mathematical skills. Attention to detail a must.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and strong work ethics; adhere to confidentiality at all times.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills to interact, build and maintain positive, cross-functional relationships at all levels.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills in order to juggle competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to think and act independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Intermediate Excel to be able to perform pivots, v-lookups, sumifs, and if-statements.
  • CPP certification, preferred.
