SHIFT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR THIS POSITION - 1st/2nd/3rd
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Follows and Adheres to Company Standard Operating Procedures, batch tickets, and process sheets.
- Follows and Adheres to Company Safety Policies
- Load raw materials into Milling dept tanks per batch specified amounts.
- Operate equipment used to make or fill batches: mills, scales/load cells, tank mixers, drum dumpers, bulk loading system, filling pumps, filling machines, etc.
- Monitor mills, tanks, and other process parameters & equipment.
- Fill finished goods into proper containers per customer specific IDIOS and make container labels.
- Operate forklift to move materials.
- Participate on improvement teams and submit ideas.
- Tests of finished products. Testing includes: Viscosity, Solids, Grind check, Tint Strength, and any other testing that may be required of any finished product.
- Adjusts any product that does not meet the company or customer specifications by determining the best method of correcting the problem via use of established Standard Operating Procedures.
- Develops color/tint strength reports on prepared panels for color/tint strength evaluation through the use of X-Rite i5 or any other required equipment.
- Physically makes production batch adjustments for color/tint strength.
- Identifies potential off-quality products during the process and initiates appropriate corrective actions through established company abnormal process.
- Prepares customer packages for shipment.
- Utilizes company IT equipment such as SAP, Microsoft Access Database, & Microsoft Office to complete orders in the Milling process.
- Maintains housekeeping within the lab and production areas.
- Maintains all testing equipment.
- Perform job activities in Operations areas outside of Milling as required.
- Determines if a panel sample meets all customers color/tint strength requirements and approves batches for color/tint strength.
- Co-works with other departments such as Technical or Quality on batch related issues
- Mentor/Train employees on departmental time management, Batchmaking process, Filling Process, Mill Operation, quality control test methods, and color/tint strength.
- Lead shift in supervisor absence with responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Distribution of shift work assignments - including reallocation of resources
- Conducting Pre-Shift meeting
- Point of contact on batch related issues for operators, managers, planning, other departments, etc.
- Documenting performance or relations issues and forwarding to management.
- Move waste from generation point to 90-day Storage Area
- Properly close and label waste containers using NB Coatings procedures
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR CERTIFICATION
- High School Diploma or GED
- Passing Math Test
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries, and/or complaints
- Displays courtesy, tact and respect when dealing with others.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to wear a respirator/all necessary PPE - including being clean shaven for respirator use
- Ability to work with isocyanate
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships; demonstrates a commitment to teamwork
- Maintains a strong attention to detail
- Developed computer skills in Excel, Word and other office programs
- Manufacturing industry experience preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Ability to work any shift hours and overtime in order to meet the needs of the business.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, the ability to focus, and the ability to see color.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employee experiences constant interruptions and inflexible deadlines. The noise-level in this environment is moderate to loud. Duties are performed mostly indoors and at times outdoors. Out-of-town travel required as necessary for training and/or to carry out duties and responsibilities.
