Position Overview:
The Senior Network Engineer will be crucial for maintaining and advancing Project Renewal’s network infrastructure, including cloud services, servers, workstations, VoIP phone systems, Internet connections, firewalls, switches, mobile devices, and wireless access points. As a Senior Network Engineer, you are expected to be a strategic thinker, capable of overseeing complex network projects and making impactful decisions. Building collaborative relationships with various teams is key, as you will be instrumental in shaping the direction of our network infrastructure. Your role will directly influence our network systems' robustness, efficiency, and scalability, playing a significant role in maintaining the organization’s operational excellence and security posture.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our complex network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
- Resolve critical network issues, maintaining the stability and security of our network services using advanced network troubleshooting.
- Work on network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
- Oversee the installation of new hardware and network systems and manage the upgrading of existing systems to meet our evolving business needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a cohesive and secure IT infrastructure.
- Mentor Network Engineers and team members, sharing knowledge and promoting best practices in network administration and security.
- Keep abreast of new technologies and network practices and evaluate their potential application within our organization.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Expertise in managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, VOIP, etc.
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware, including experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and associated network protocols and concepts.
- Advanced knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
- Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
- Cisco router configuration and hardening are a plus.
- Knowledge of IP routing, including routing protocols EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.
- Experience with Cisco ISE-based identity and access control.
- Experience with Cisco ACI and Cisco DNA is a plus.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities and a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, capable of leading teams and projects
- Managing a mix of on-premises, IaaS/SaaS, and Cloud-native IT operations.
- Lead the operations of mission-critical systems and services.
- Designing and managing complex IT projects, including multiple teams and vendors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced technical experience designing and implementing solutions based on:
- Microsoft Hyper-V and Windows Server.
- Microsoft Azure (including AAD, virtual networks, virtual machines, web applications, SQL databases, VPNs).
- Microsoft 365 / Office 365; and
- Cisco Meraki firewalls, switches, and WAPs.
- 7+ years of relevant professional experience in Network Engineering.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of network and security systems.
- Ability to work with vendors, service providers, and third parties.
- Have at least one or two industry certifications. Like the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP).
