Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

Supports projects by performing the following activities:

  • Survey/Geophysical/Geologic support in charge of assisting with evaluation of survey and geoscience needs for projects,

  • Interfaces with internal project teams and provides geo-consulting guidance to those teams,

  • Development of SOW and specifications for geophysical and geotechnical site investigation,

  • Preparation and evaluation of Tenders for both geophysical and geotechnical site investigation,

  • Contractor management, client representative during site investigation,

  • Preparation or management of integrated desktop and field development studies,

  • Preparation or management of pipeline and wellsite drilling ROW and site clearance reports,

  • Preparation of Integrated studies, integrating geophysical and geotechnical data,

  • Familiarity with basic geotechnical engineering principles,

  • Support Worley/Advisian worldwide geoscience operations,

  • Use of GIS-based data and integration from multiple disciplines,

  • Processing and integration of geophysical survey data,

  • Interpretation and reporting on geophysical and geotechnical data,

  • Performs pipeline routing assessment and design,

  • Liaises with subsea engineers on geohazards and siting conditions for wells and subsea facilities,

  • Works with geoscience team as subject matter experts on geosciences to internal and external clients,

  • Serves offshore as client Technical Representative on geophysical, geotechnical, environmental surveys, and

  • Knowledge and experience in offshore wind site characterization and survey.

  Supports Business Development in the discipline by:

  Assists with exploration and development of geosciences opportunities within Worley/Advisian,

  Assists with identifying potential upcoming job opportunities, and development of novel approaches or improvements to the project execution work process,

  Maintains existing professional contacts and positive relationships with clients, and

  Mentors and cross-pollinates staff in areas of personal expertise.

 

Marginal Duties Desired but non-essential function of the position:

  Experience in survey and geohazards assessments for both drilling and field development highly desirable,

  Experience working on multi-disciplinary teams highly desirable,

  General familiarity with subsea facilities and infrastructure including OSW turbines and cabling, risers, pipelines, and umbilicals, PLETs, PLEMs, UTAs, skirted foundations, suction caisson foundations, driven piles, monopiles, moorings, etc., and

  Knowledge and/or appreciation of US CFR and GOM regulatory NTLs and BOEM/MMS requirements for site clearance and permitting of wellsites, fixed structures, floating structures, pipeline, cabling rights-of-way.

    • Travel and offshore assignment may be required for various field programs, which may be at 15%-30% per year. However, candidate may elect to not support field programs (office duties only),

    • Offshore wind survey and site characterization experience from front-end conceptual studies to full 3D soil ground models highly desirable, and

    • Location in Houston, TX or relocation to Houston, TX not-required, remote work/work from home arrangement possible

Qualifications

  MS or Ph.D. preferred in Geology or Geophysics, or BS in Geology or Geophysics with 7-15 years of experience with the following:

  Working knowledge of: MapInfo GIS, ArcGIS, HIS/SMT Kingdom Suite 2D/3D Pak, Global Mapper, Surfer, Grapher, Terramodel, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Triton, OIC, Fledermaus, SonarWIZ, HyPack, Caris/HIPS and/or other equivalent mapping, surveying, processing, or interpretation programs, and

  Managing internal and external integrated geoscience assignments within integrated project teams.

  Educated & Experienced geologist/geophysicist with background and/or hands-on knowledge of:

  Principles of structural geology,

  Principles of salt and salt tectonics,

  Principles of seismic and sequence stratigraphy,

  Principles of single and dynamic fault environments,

  Principles of seismicity and seismic hazards assessments,

  Principles of 2d and 3d geophysical data, loading, interpretation, and analyses,

  Understanding of age-dating techniques,

  Understanding of offshore geohazards,

  Understanding of Geographic Information Systems and application to solving geologic problems,

  Understanding of mapping and map generation,

  Understanding of surveying and survey data,

  Understanding of geodetic datums, projections, and positioning,

  Understanding of basic geotechnical engineering,

  General understanding of ocean currents and applicability to geologic and engineering studies (i.e., scour, etc),

  Understanding of general offshore geophysical and geotechnical site investigation techniques,

  Understanding of wellsite and pipeline geohazards, reporting, and permitting processes,

  Large desktop studies for regional or local pipeline or field development,

  Basic understanding of quantifying geo-risk to subsea projects,

  Understanding of geologic processes such as slope stability, mass-transport, etc.

  Multi-phased, inter-disciplinary, deepwater field development studies,

  Evolving trends and techniques in deepwater geology, interpretation, and geohazards.

  Knowledge and experience in offshore wind site characterization and survey.

 

  Experienced with independently developing reports and presentations to internal or client peer assists on results and relevance to deepwater engineering projects,

  Good public speaking and public interaction skills,

  Able to actively participate in meetings,

  Able to work both within teams and as self-starter/self-manager; and

  Innovative and motivated.
