DESCRIPTION
About the Position
Lane County is looking for a leader ready to inspire, inform, and support a dedicated team engaged with justice-involved youth in our work to improve community safety and create meaningful change. This Senior Manager position will report to the department director and have broad discretion in supporting the work of a dynamic range of units including detention, residential treatment, clinical programs, probation, and education including classroom, horticulture sciences and culinary arts. As a member of the Community Justice and Rehabilitation Services Department leadership team this position requires experience, passion, and vision to help professional teams excel.
This leadership position provides oversight for the division including planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating programs; supervises staff including prioritizing work and ensuring staff are trained and evaluated. Plans, prepares, and administers the program budget; works with the public to develop partnerships in supporting the mission of the agency; prepares and submits various reports on administrative matters, operations, and activities; collaborates with elected and appointed officials and other community partners on issues related to juvenile justice.
The successful candidate will have the ability to monitor and evaluate employees; prioritize and assign work; prepare and present reports and information; develop, evaluate, recommend, and implement processes and procedures; interpret and apply Federal, State, and local laws and regulations; manage change and sensitive topics; engage and collaborate with job position partners; solve problems; adapt to rapidly changing environments; create a culturally inclusive work environment; mediate and resolve conflict; coordinate and execute multiple tasks; analyze complex information, process and make recommendations for improvement.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of managerial principles; applicable Federal, State and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes; policy and procedure development practices; budget administration principles, and project management principles.

Youth Services Mission - "Improving community safety and creating meaningful change for justice-involved youth, victims, and the community through equitable and effective engagement."
Youth Services Vision - Is to positively impact community safety by collaborating with justice and community partners, providing equitable opportunities to the staff, youth, and community, and to become a leader in the juvenile justice field. Youth Services' strives for accountability and integrity in providing assessments, probation, education, training, counseling, and detention services to youth, ages 12-17 years old, referred by local law enforcement for criminal behavior.
Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm

QUALIFICATIONS
Training:
  • Bachelor's Degree.

Experience:
  • Six years of progressively responsible experience related to area assigned, including supervisory experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Licensing Requirements (positions in this class may require):
  • Oregon Driver's License.
  • Licensure or certification related to the area assigned.

Medical/Rx/Vision - Lane County offers medical, prescription and vision exam coverage for you and your eligible dependents. The plan options and costs per month for 2018 are outlined below:
If you enroll in the HDHP the County will contribute to your HSA: $1,500 (individual) or $3,000 (family) annually. This amount is prorated based on date of hire.
Eligible employees who complete a Health History Risk Assessment (HHRA), Biometric Screening, and Comprehensive Health Review (CHR) at the Live Well Center receive a $20 per month credit.
Wellness Clinic - The Live Well Center is for Lane County benefits-eligible employees, spouses and dependents (ages 2 and up) who are enrolled in the Lane County health plan.
