As part of the Transformation office, you will play a critical role in leading the integration of key high-value regional and support function workstreams. You will be the primary driver of functional integration design and milestones and be highly collaborative across corporate and market-level functions, leveraging existing subject matter experts to aid in decision-making. Your day-to-day work will help to operationalize key integration activities and support change management initiatives to ensure sustainability.

Your experience managing major strategic implementation initiatives (e.g., within a transformation) and your ability to problem solve with senior leaders, organize, and prioritize information, and manage confidential material relating to corporate and org decisions is essential to a successful transformation.  

Throughout the transformation, you will work closely with the entire Pacific West executive leadership team. You will report to the Senior Director of Transformation and will also work in a matrix environment to support market functional leadership or regional leadership teams.

Day-to-day activities:

  • Builds deep, trusting relationships with business leaders to understand business needs and transformation priorities and partners to ensure successful functional transformation
  • Collaborates with business leader to develop integration plans and provides support to engage initiative owners in the work
  • Drives work independently, determines next steps, highlights risk and barriers, and develops mitigation plan without extensive oversight
  • Communicates effectively – both written and verbal – to align stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization around integration plans, barriers, and mitigation strategies
  • Plays a key role in problem-solving with the business leader to drive integration, improve processes, and/or remove roadblocks; anticipates areas of difficulty/potential unknown risks, contributes towards creative and scalable solutions, and moves to action quickly
  • Develops and applies decision frameworks to identify and prioritize distinct tradeoffs to reach outcomes for complex programs
  • Drives execution of integration plans by providing execution guidance to business leader and initiative owners
  • Works with business leader to plan agendas and facilitate meetings and planning sessions between the business leader and senior cross-functional leaders
  • Proactively identifies key updates for business leaders to share with senior leaders, e.g., regular updates on progress, identified barriers and risks, recommendations on a path forward, and ideas to influence alignment on solutions
  • Partners with cross-functional business SMEs (e.g., operations, finance, accounting, IT, HR) to ensure initiative implementation plans are feasible and implemented according to functional best practices
  • Has visibility of the transformation across the whole company and brings relevant information to their business leader to smooth the function’s transformation
  • Guides initiative owners and pressure tests their work as they develop the business plan and opportunity sizing for their initiative
  • Guides the functional project managers as they identify process standardization opportunities, and leads the implementation of adoption of best practices and process improvement efforts

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field, or a combination of education and/or equivalent experience relevant to the role.

MBA, MHA, MPH, or Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 4-6 years’ experience in management consulting, with mix of strategy and implementation consulting projects, or experience in internal consulting for a healthcare organization is preferred. 
  • Experience with business integration or performance improvement is required.
  • Demonstrated project management, consulting, and facilitation skills.
  • Familiarity with healthcare concepts and practices as it relates to providers and healthcare clinics is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Optum clinic practices and workflows is a plus.

  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
