Business Unit Summary
Our Facilities Operations team is responsible for the safe, sustainable, and cost-effective construction, operation and maintenance of world-class facilities that enable the discovery, development and delivery of innovative medicines that help patients prevail over serious diseases. We deliver safe, effective, and strategically aligned facilities and services around the world. This includes day-to-day operations and maintenance, employee convenience services, laboratory services, and asset and document management. In close partnership with stakeholders to manage the contracts and service agreements for integrated facilities management, and other vendors. Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Site Technical Operations will be the primary internal customer interface for service delivery of outsourced facility services and self-performed facility services. This position will report into the Site Director as a member of the Site Leadership Team and will utilize knowledge of supplier agreement in both contract compliance and execution, including ongoing relationships with suppliers, in order to manage Site Operations effectively. This role will also utilize operational knowledge of facility business functions and requirements, including Veterinary Sciences, EHS, Security, Site Engineering, soft and hard services.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary interface with facilities service providers for delivery in and around Vivarium environments
  • Maintain frequent contact with managers/employees in other departments and/or customer representatives to coordinate activities concerning operational decisions and business requirements
  • Champion and ensure the interests of the Veterinary Sciences are primary business operations continuity
  • Support Vivarium building operations, systems, and equipment
  • Support development and management of site operating budget
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and problem-solving throughout coordination of projects to direct or cross-functional team members
  • Serve as the primary customer of site engineering for the development and execution of site capital infrastructure projects and the broader CAPX plan
  • Ensure proper commissioning and turnover of all capital projects to meet customer needs
  • Develop and ensure compliance with department SOPs, EHS policies, and procedures, including corporate/division policies
  • Champion for site energy initiatives as well as ongoing energy consumption monitoring
  • Serve as co-owner for site shutdowns and primary customer interface for related activities
  • Oversee site auditing as it relates to environmental health and safety in partnership with site EHS staff
  • Manage of "out of scope" contracts in support of Site Operations
  • Oversee service provider outcomes; review site CPI/KPI/GPI where applicable
  • Coordinate site emergency response
  • Support other sites in the region as needed

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years of experience in operations, maintenance, and service management of industrial buildings, research buildings, office systems, and utility plants; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience with Vivarium HVAC concepts and applications
  • Hands-on experience in the procurement, negotiation, and management of contracts with maintenance suppliers, contractors, and consultants
  • Experience managing financial aspects of facility operations and services including budget development, expense forecasting, SAP transactions, and cost tracking
  • Broad technical knowledge of facility operations, infrastructure, engineering, and systems
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, communication and presentation skills, and ability to influence
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, sound business ethics, and ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve technical problems in complex research systems
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations and industry practices such as GMPs, GLPs, AAALAC, USDA, IQ/OQ/PQ regulations, environmental regulations, building codes, ADA, and OSHA requirements
