Job Description
We are currently looking for a Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting to join our growing Finance team!
In this role, you will report directly to the Director, Accounting. As Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting you will lead the implementation of processes, policies, and procedures ensuring the accuracy of accounting and reporting for revenue recognition (ASC 606). You will play a major part in the financial month-end closing and reporting process by managing complex journal entries and the Revenue Accounting recognition tool (RAR) for the company. The successful candidate will partner with key business stakeholders and business finance partners to provide guidance on the revenue recognition for new products and services and to ensure adherence to applicable guidance, policies and processes. You will need to have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, and will need to be a leader that can motivate and develop the staff.
As Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting your duties will include:
Provide strategic direction for all Revenue Accounting close activities, including the review of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and flux analyses for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Accounting lead for the implementation of SAP BRIM billing system, including migration of legacy billing systems, providing detailed accounting requirements, and support UAT testing
Review and assess sales contracts for appropriate revenue recognition under ASC 606, performing research & documenting conclusions, as needed.
Review and approval of calculations for current expected credit losses (CECL) and specific revenue reserves
Develop detailed reporting and analysis for all revenue related activities in support of month end close
Collaborate with the upstream operational teams on improving revenue recognition processes & ensuring system accuracy.
Collaborate cross-functionally to support company-wide initiatives by informing and educating business partners on Revenue Accounting concepts and requirements for revenue recognition
Oversee the development of revenue related financial reporting disclosures
Support the quarterly and year-end inquiries, requests, and activities originating from our internal and external auditors
Maintain a focus on continuous process improvement by identifying opportunities for efficiency and implementing time/resource saving solutions
Manage performance and ensure ongoing development of staff.
Execute special projects as needed
Qualifications
WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years of related experience in Revenue accounting
SME level knowledge of ASC 606 principles
5+ years of experience leading teams of direct and indirect reports in a deadline-driven environment.
Experience organizing a large volume of information and identifying and deploying automation tools/solutions
Proficiency in the use of database tools and financial reporting packages.
Clear communicator, experience running meetings effectively, and to explain complex concepts to a non-technical audience
Complete ownership and accountability of the function given the deadline-oriented nature of the position
Adaptable to changing business environment and organizational structure
BONUS POINTS FOR:
Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA designation
Experience with billing system implementations and migrations
Background in the telecommunications industry
