What you'll do
We are looking for an experienced attorney to join our North America employment legal team to serve as a trusted partner to provide both strategic and tactical Employment Law advice and guidance to Human Resources and business leadership with the goal of facilitating innovative business decisions while minimizing legal risk.
Expectations and Tasks
Provide timely, dedicated, solution-oriented, legal advice to meet the ever-changing and developing needs of People Operations reflective of our employee population
Coordinate with stakeholders across various functions, such as People Relations, Compliance, Talent Acquisition, Sales, Security, IT, Data Management, etc. to ensure the development of employee-related solutions that are compliant with applicable laws and regulations
Partner with the People Relations and Talent Acquisition teams to ensure training and development and recruiting practices reflect corporate policies and human resource objectives
Advise on topics like leaves of absence, employee relations, restructurings, privacy and immigration; the creation, interpretation and application of employment-related policies and procedures, consistent with state and federal requirements; drafting and improving employment-related documentation; providing legal support for background checks, workplace investigations, etc.
Work with People Operations colleagues to identify and mitigate human resources risks in a timely and appropriate fashion
Help develop human resources processes and protocols to ensure consistent compliance across SAP N.A.
Consult with outside counsel within area of responsibility in a cost-effective manner.

Education and Skills
Degree from an accredited law school and licensed with a U.S. bar admission
Experience directly supporting business clients with advice and practical solutions
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a bias toward action
Knowledge of privacy requirements in the employment context.
Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to initiate and manage multiple projects simultaneously, following through to completion within deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to quickly get up to speed on statutory and/or regulatory requirements, assess organizational risk impacts and provide practical guidance to mitigate legal risk.
Must have excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional and international teams.
Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, a quick learner and have a strong work ethic.
Capable of working independently and producing consistently efficient, high-quality work product.
Fluent in English
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience practicing and advising in Employment Law and general contract review, in either private practice or in-house legal department.

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP's commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 119,400 - 260,400 USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
