Summary of the Job
As a Senior IT Data Architect, you will be a technical leader responsible for maintaining data systems supporting a multinational corporation. The Senior IT Data Architect will report to the Enterprise Data Architect and will be a technical expert in enterprise data warehousing. This position is expected to have a deep understanding not only of data warehousing principles but the operation of the underlying systems (cloud and on premise) these principles are applied to. The Senior Data Architect will create and support complex data ETL's from a variety of sources using industry leading tools like Matillion ETL, Fivetran HVR, Snaplogic and AWS Glue. This position will work directly with internal business users to evolve existing data ingestion pipelines while helping to create new ones. The Senior IT Data Architect will serve as a mentor to junior teammates helping them to learn and grow as part of a team that works inside of an Agile development framework. VWTS uses the data warehouse for all financial reporting, data accuracy and availability is of the utmost importance.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Help lead team as "second in command" to Enterprise Data Architect
- Teach and mentor junior and mid level teammates in data warehousing techniques and best practices
- Design and build performant data models using established methodologies such as star and snowflake
- Create complex data movements "ETL"s from a variety of sources such as "flat" files, formatted files, API and ODBC using industry leading tools such as Matillion ETL, Fivetran HVR, Snaplogic and AWS Glue
- Support and evolve existing "ETLs" while maintaining a keen understanding of the cost of error
- Collaborate with business users on new data projects seeking to expand or improve the quality and content of an enterprise data warehouse operating in a multinational 24x7x365 environment
- Lead code reviews and design analysis as a lead member in a high performing Agile team
- Directly assist users to optimize data visualizations using tools such as Tableau, AWS Sagemaker and Microsoft Power BI
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's (BS or BA) in a technical or analytical field of study such as Information Systems
- Prefer advanced degree (MS) in a technical or analytical field of study such as Information Systems
- 10 or more years of experience in data warehousing
- 8 or more years of hands on experience as a Data Engineer
- 3 or more years of leadership experience guiding junior level data employees
- Experience in cloud based computing, preferably AWS
Desired:
- AWS Data Solution Architect certification
- 5-7 years of SAP ERP experience as a data analyst
- Certification with Matillion ETL software
- 12 or more years of experience in data warehousing
- Direct supervisory experience with at least 2 direct reports
Working Conditions:
- This is a remote position but if a local (prefer) candidate is selected an expectation of at least one day per week on site is expected
- Use of video conferencing is mandatory and expected for all meetings
- Annual or quarterly travel may be required to participate in team events if not a local candidate
